Silversurfers Showcase Guide

You will need to be registered and logged in to interact with the Silversurfers Showcase

Silversurfers community showcase is a place for you to share your creativity with the rest of the community.

You are welcome to share photographs which you are proud of, poems or short stories for our community to enjoy and recipes to inspire us.

Each month, we'll choose our favourite literature and photo gallery submission and bestow upon it the prestigious "Editors Choice" award. If your submission is selected, not only will your article, recipe, poem, short story, or photo gain our badge of honour, wherever it appears on Silversurfers, but you will also receive a £25 Amazon e-voucher to spend how you choose! That's a total of £50 worth of Amazon vouchers awarded each month!

Feel free to give a thumbs up to the photos and literature that you like... at the end of each week, the photo with the most likes is displayed below and appears as Photo of the Week! The same goes for all literature shared too.

Every evening on our Facebook page we also feature a photo from the Showcase and give it the accolade #ShowcaseSpotlight. We have a very active Facebook community who really enjoy seeing photos from our talented photographers, so feel free to share your favourite, most impressive images in the Showcase. We also feature the #ShowcaseSpotlight images on our Instagram page too.

How to upload a photo

There is a very simple mechanism for you to share your photos in the Showcase.

1. Using the Star in the showcase box pictured here, click on 'Share a photo'.
2. Click on the blue Upload button and then select the image you would like to share from your device.
3. File size limit for uploading images to the Showcase is 1.5mb
4. Give your photo a title for example 'Busy Bee'
5. Then click Submit to the community
6. Your submission will then need to be approved by our moderators.
7. You will get a message saying 'Your image has been successfully uploaded and is awaiting approval'
8. You can check the progress of your photo in the section called 'My Profile'
9. Once you photo is approved, members of our community can view your photo and give a 'thumbs up' to images which they like.
10. You are able to view your Showcase in 'My Profile' under 'Showcase'
11. Showcase is the place to display special photos that you are proud of. Members particularly enjoy pictures of wildlife, beautiful scenery, flowers etc. Please avoid posting images of children as the content is freely available on the Internet for all to see.

How to upload a poem, recipe or short story

There is a very simple mechanism for you to share your poetry, short stories or recipes in the Showcase.

1. Showcase is the place to display poignant and witty poetry, interesting short stories and recipes.
2. Using the Star in the showcase box pictured here, click on 'Share recipes & literature'.
3. Choose a category from the drop down which best fits what you would like to share.
4. Give you entry a title
5. Copy & paste your literature in the box where it says 'enter your submission here'
6. Then click Submit to the community
7. Your submission will then be sent to us to be approved by our moderators.
8. You will get a message saying ' Your showcase article has been added and is awaiting approval.' We will inform you when it becomes available to the community via an email.
9. You can check the progress of your submission in the section called 'My Profile'
10. Once your submission is approved, members of our community can view it and give a 'thumbs up' to literature or recipes which they like and also leave a comment for you if the wish.
11. If there is a comment left for you, you will receive an email with a link to the comment.
12. You are able to view your Showcase in 'My Profile' under 'Showcase'
13. Our Editor regularly shares members poetry on our active Facebook which is greatly appreciated.
