Strictly fun and laughter with Platinum Skies

As the twirling steps up in the Strictly ballroom, dance fever is spreading rapidly at Platinum Skies’ retirement developments in Salisbury, Poole and Christchurch.

Lifestyle Manager, Alison LeClerc says: “Many of our residents were keen dancers in their youth, and I am not just talking classic ballroom. Having gyrated their lives away in the 1960s and 70s, rock and roll, salsa, twist, soul, and even hip hop are more often the ‘dance of choice’ for a number of them.

So, in response to overwhelming demand, accelerated since the start of the new series of TV blockbuster, Strictly Come Dancing, we have lost no time in setting up informal in-house dance sessions, where both singles and couples are welcomed. Our friendly dance tutors that includes fellow Lifestyle Managers are encouraging everyone to lose their inhibitions and join in.  It is a great way of meeting new friends, and one of the best forms of exercise, keeping both limbs and minds fluid and active.”

Alison continues: “The health benefits of any regular dance movement are becoming fact, not fiction. One of the latest reports published by Aging Care cite five main reasons to take the floor.* It minimises symptoms of depression, improves strength and balance, reduces joint pain and stiffness, protects the heart, and most significantly for the over sixties, defends against dementia. A 21 year study showed that aging adults who danced regularly had a 76% reduced risk for developing dementia.” **

Dancing is just one of the fun activities attracting Platinum Skies residents. Wellness days, cookery classes and excursions to local places of interest are also gaining momentum.

“As numbers of residents increase in all our stunning developments, genuine friendships and new activities are springing up in these vibrant communities. The stylishly furnished communal areas which includes comfortable lounges, bistros, bars and activity rooms, act as a natural magnet for newcomers, where our Lifestyle Managers are busy introducing people with similar interests,” comments Platinum Skies Chief Operating Officer, David Hines.

Platinum Skies’ Government-approved Shared Ownership scheme is available across all Platinum Skies developments. Homes are available from under £100k for a 50% of a one bedroom apartment. Making moving to a brand-new luxury private home really affordable for most seeking a care-free and comfortable retirement.

Currently, apartments and houses ranging from 1-3 bedrooms are available to purchase through Shared Ownership at four Platinum Skies developments: Chapters in Salisbury, Vista and Esprit in Poole, and Monterey in Christchurch.
