Should drivers over 70 re-take their driving test? There are lots of drivers under 70 that ought to re-take their driving test! I thought it was just me getting and thinking that drivers are getting worse, but young people I’ve spoken to feel the same.ViewDate:

Do you refer to it as Mothering Sunday or Mother's Day?We have always called it Mother’s Day, as with Father’s Day. You never hear that referred to as Fathering Sunday. Let’s keep it relaxed.ViewDate:

Do you support the introduction of a bottle-return scheme?Always took back the empty glass bottles for a refund of the deposit when I was a child. There were no plastic bottles or aluminium drinks cans. And everything was wrapped/packed in paper bags. We were so much more eco friendly then!ViewDate:

Do you support the proposed amendment to the assisted dying Bill?I agree that assisted dying should become legal, but I’m not sure I agree with the panel Kim Leadbeater has suggested. Having dealt with my aged (100 years old) mother’s Social Workers for the past 5 years, I don’t think they’re in a position to be able to make this sort of decision. They are vastly overworked and sometimes greatly inexperienced with real life, having just come from university. My mum has had a different Social Worker every year, so there’s no continuity and none of them saw her more than once, for less than an hour. How could a decision be based on this.ViewDate:

Would you support compulsory digital ID cards? The majority of people have a driving licence, passport, club membership cards, etc., so why not carry an ID card? If the worst happens, at least you can be identified and family contacted. I don’t understand what everyone is so afraid of. And yes, let’s use another country’s technology, otherwise we’ll be waiting forever and it won’t work anyway. Not to mention the £millions or £billions it will cost to build it ourselves!!ViewDate:

What the budget means for you - is it better or worse than you thought it would be?Wilf and Lionel, there are more important things to worry about in the UK, than the defence budget. If there’s another World War, we’ll all go up in one big bang. There may be some fighting at first, but the nuclear arms will come out very quickly and then it will all be over for those of us who don’t have a safe nuclear bunker to retreat to. Let’s spend money on health, education and getting the country back on its feet and looking after our own problems, instead of looking after everyone else’s. The reason we don’t export much, is because apart from not having much to export, since leaving the EU, export costs have soared, so it’s not viable any more. Never mind the “only 20%” that voted labour in the last election, what about the only 3.78% difference that took us out of Europe. What happened to Boris’s promises? All lies of course! Maybe we should have another referendum? And heaven help us if Donald Trump gets back in power in the US.ViewDate:

Does traditional pie and mash deserve to be given protected status?Of course it deserves to be given protected status, it was part of our staple diet when growing up in East London in the 50’s and 60’s, but parliament has better things to debate, like sorting out the NHS.ViewDate:

Change of holiday plansWhen I met my husband, we clicked straight away, were married within a year and are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in January 2025. 7 weeks can be long enough to know your feelings. Let them come on the trip and get to know the new man. I think you’re being very unreasonable and a little controlling.ViewDate:

Do you believe in Blue Monday? All Mondays are blue when you’re working, unless you have a job you love (lucky you!), but they do improve when you retire and don’t have to get up at 5am on a cold, frosty morning and wonder whether the trains will be running.ViewDate:

Is sleeping in separate beds the beginning of the end?My husband and I have been married for 47 years and for the past 5 or so, have slept in separate rooms. Our relationship has actually improved, as we now both get the sleep we need, without being disturbed by snoring (both of us ) and trips to the loo. There’s no point in sharing a bed if neither of you are sleeping well, so if you have the opportunity, give separate rooms/beds a go!ViewDate:

Do you think XL Bully dogs should be banned? We have had dogs, so agree that dogs are essentially what you make them, i.e., treat them well and teach them to be social and non-aggressive. Unfortunately, XL Bully dogs, etc., seem to be owned by morons, who think it’s great that their dog will attack anything that moves. This will never change, so they have to be banned.ViewDate:

Do you think that the speed limit should be reduced to 20mph on all urban roads?No-one takes any notice of speed limits or road rules now anyway, so what’s the point? Drivers go through red lights and pull out of side streets in front of you. When speed is limited, drivers speed when they move out of the zone, to make up for lost time. Driving etiquette has completely disappeared, so maybe we should be focussing on that? I thought it was just me getting old, but young work colleagues also complain about drivers’ lack of road manners.ViewDate:

Do you support the delay to the 2030 ban on sales of new petrol and diesel cars?I realise the desperate need to stop global warming, but we must be practical and sensible. Most people, especially in the current economic climate, can’t afford to buy an electric car and have nowhere to put a charging point. There aren’t enough charging points in the UK to support the current number of electric cars and there have been arguments and fights at charging stations. We need to prepare for our actions, before we undertake them.ViewDate:

Do you agree with the decision to axe HS2 northern leg?The whole HS2 project should never have begun. I’ve done business day trips to Birmingham many times and it’s always been quick and easy. The money should have been spent upgrading the transport infrastructure where it was needed, predominantly in the North. Trying to get North from Birmingham, or between Northern cities is a nightmare.I live just outside London, so no bias!ViewDate:

Should we encourage children to identify as cats and other animals? What a load of rubbish! Small children do pretend play, not teenagers! Young people could do without the “influencers” on social media telling them what they should look like, how they should act and what sex they should be. When I was a child we read fantasy books, played fantasy games and knew the difference between fantasy and reality. There were gay people and rebels and we all got on with it. Children are encouraged to grow up far too soon now.ViewDate:

Was leaving the EU a mistake?Eaglestone what planet are you living on. Certainly not this one and certainly not this country. Everything has gone up in price, businesses are folding because of the levies and paperwork involved in exporting goods and lack of staff. And Stanleyk did you not see the Brexit bus, which said “we send the EU £350 million a week. Let’s fund our NHS instead - vote Brexit”. Google it and find the photo of Bros Johnson standing in front of it - it was in the Telegraph. You people that believed the lies, sold us down the river and now we’re all suffering for it.ViewDate:
