Should seagulls be culled?DoreenM17 you are living on the inside of your home while the birds are nesting on your roof! Who is in the better position. You honk your car horn and frighten them, why ? only to get out of your way!! Would you like it if the roles were reversed? When I have people crossing in front of my vehicle head in mobile, do I honk the horn No! should I? You say that they are going to cause havoc, same could be said for humanity, look around you and listen to world news then think!ViewDate:

Should seagulls be culled? You have a poor opinion on your fellow man when you say "That's never going to happen because the public will always leave rubbish around". So cull the birds for humanity sake when it is the fault of the humans! Re birds protecting their young! Would not our human parents protect their young?ViewDate:

Should seagulls be culled?Dylans Slave, are you implying birds and animals are easier to train than humans. Humanity is supposed to be superior (I very much doubt that) . Humans were taught to use dining tables and place settings, knife fork etc. Birds on the other hand/wing have to search out their food and most likely eat on the wing. I have every faith in humanity and p.s. no need to eat in your garden, how about your kitchen. Leave the garden grubs to the birds.ViewDate:

Would you be happy sharing your local woodland with top predators?I agree because it helps even out the numbers. As far as hunting is concerned I am totally against that. Humans hunt for the fun whereas animals hunt to eat. Ban hunting, reintroduce predatory animals.ViewDate:

Should seagulls be culled?Having read the postings it appears that the seagulls only come around when we have food. Remove the food and rubbish bags and the seagulls will disappear. If we remove food from equation then no need to MURDER the wildlife. I wonder what they (the birds) think of humans stealing their food, Are the birds thinking, humans need to be culled!ViewDate:
24th Jul 2019Collie commented on:
Should seagulls be culled? Why cull? Why not remind humans that the place to eat is at a dining table! Do not leave food or open bins around. The birds are doing what comes natural to them, finding food at their 'dining table'. No eating outdoors No edible items left out in the open. Problem solved, Humans and wildlife live in harmony. P.S. read the postings here but, reverse roles i.e. birds commenting on humans, bet that will make you think.ViewDate:

Pampering etc. I am very proud of my family, Highly educated and now in their respective professions. If you look on your children - adults - this is SilverSurfers after all - as children who is unable to make their own bed or make a cup of tea/coffee then by friend, look to your own generation. Is a bad deal better than remaining in the European Union?I have to say just a few more words/comments. I am married to a wonderful UK citizen for the past forty-five years. We are living in Dublin, Ireland. Our daughter, has travelled the world and is now living in Malaga. Okay, I have to ask all United Kingdom citizens please, have you thought about the six counties of Ireland, they belong to the U.K. Those wonderful people i.e. farmers etc. share their livelihoods with neighbours who happen to live in what is known as the twenty-six counties i.e. Ireland. Some of their farms/ roads etc. cross on to each-other, I heard of one farmer who has his farm split down the middle by this invisible UK / Ire border. Have you the United Kingdom spent one minute to consider those people? In the city of Belfast, you have all the Politicians. Who do they have in mind when they are making decisions. HISTORY! The time is now Now! I love my family UK/Ireland and extended families for over forty-five years! Can you spread that same love and affection? Am I making any sense? I cannot sleep (4.20a.m.) Will you be able to sleep after watching your elected government decide on your behalf? I sign off with much love for all my family and neighbours I have yet to meet!ViewDate:

Is a bad deal better than remaining in the European Union?Do the Brexit voters know what will happen if this goes through? I don't think so! Why ruin a situation whereby the youth can continue to go travel without all the 'red tape'. It was our generation who voted 'leave' because we are stuck in the past. We fear other cultures etc. When all is said and done, what has the colour of ones skin, or what God they worship got to do with us. Can we not all live side by side and giving one-another space to survive in our own way? I want to leave this vote to the youth, it is their future and I for one, trust them to make the right choice!ViewDate:

Win a £50 Amazon eVoucher!I am fed up with all the hype of the Christmas season, I just want to ponder on the true meaning of Christmas. It seems to be not too PC to believe in Jesus Christ and his arrival on earth. I am hanging on to my teaching and upbringing for as long as I can. Our daughter (only child) lives abroad and we are spending Christmas with her. There will be no sign of Christmas just holiday season. I hate that. Maybe it is my age, I want to grab on to my beliefs and feel comfort, Believe!ViewDate:

Trouble sleeping? 11 natural remedies to try that might help with insomniaRe sleeping, I always have a nap in the afternoon, probably my best sleep. Lavender is such a soothing fragrance I find it very comforting and relaxing. I wake early (as you can see by the time I am writing) but this is the time I think best, write my poetry and wait for the morn to come. I am not interested in TV and news any longer, I found it depressing so, nature i.e. flowers, herbs, trees and animals are so important to me. Kind regards, CollieViewDate:

Most comfortable cars for elderly and infirmPlease bear with me while I put this question. Why on earth do automobile manufacturers produce autos with their doors opening out to the front? I have had so many injuries as a result of the above, I am now reluctant to ride in our family car. For instance. when exiting from auto. I need to get my left foot back as far as it can go so I can turn in the seat to position myself to exit the car. I have had to date two serious groin injuries which left me crying in pain. I suppose now that I am no longer as agile as I once was I can expect this but, I wish somebody told me in advance. Signed 68 going on 32 CollieViewDate:

For some reason I felt lack of energy so decided to purchase and drink a bottle of water. OMG! After sitting for a while I was suddenly "full of beans" up and walking my normal quick pace yet again. Question: Water, hydration, is this the answer? I think so. In the meantime friends we need to fill "our tank" with good quality protein, vegetables, and fruit etc. am I correct?ViewDate:

I forgot to empty my fridge before holidays and, on my return I noticed that my pack of Green/yellow and red petters were well out of date but were perfect!? The same applied to a prepack of Scallions also Celery. These items are still in my fridge over two weeks out of date and looking good. Can anybody tell me please, what / why they have remained "Fresh", what are they treated with. I am not purchasing these items pre-packed any longer.ViewDate:

7 apps that help you to live smarter and feel happierAbove is very interesting but still leaves one "plugged in" to a smart phone etc. I only use my smartphone so my daughter can contact me via whatsapp (she lives abroad). Other than that I would happily carry a basic mobile to use in emergencies only. At home I have my desktop computer for everything else. I worry for the young people who spend so much time walking along looking at a screen while depending on peripheral vision to avoid bumping into people. My "app" is free and available 24/7 365 days of any year i.e. using all my senses, communicating with nature and fellow human beings. Oh! the good life....ViewDate:

Would you get Botox or fillers done on the High Street?I have been reading some of the comments re botox etc. and I am amazed at just how many people think that the procedure would be carried out by anybody other than a qualified professional (ask for proof, if not sure what to look for? educate yourself first before you go any further. Finally, anybody who carries out a medical procedure will have an appropriate Public Liability insurance. I would suggest that if you are making comparisons ensure that you compare like with like re professional standards. Every profession and business has a "shop front" of sorts . Our family solicitor is nextdoor to our G.P, next to Marks & Spencers etc. etc.ViewDate:

Times tables & education todayAfter reading your two contributions I have come to the conclusion that, a) . Greed and one-upmanship! b) . Lack of God / a belief system in young lives. No code of ethics. c) . The internet has had a mainly negative effect on their lives which far outweighs the positive. d) . Children are encouraged to aim for the highest possible achievement in education, not all are suitable for accademia. Do one's best and be proud. Finally Lionel, no matter what we say or do, our children will go forward as we did and, do their very best and that is all they can do. We have a daughter, a beautiful young lady full of spirit and an inclination to help change the world for the better, we are very proud of her hope that she will leave footprints worth following. Times tables & education todayFirst and foremost I offer my heartfelt condolence on the passing of your step-son. Nineteen years old, a baby in my eyes, and to think that he felt the need to live up to other people's expectations. That sickens me to the core. Lionel I can only agree with you one hundred percent, the world, i.e. manmade world is in tanners and mankind is responsible for that, we (you and I) are a tiny speck in the making of what we are now living, that is why I can only suggest that we guide our own one by one. I love animals each and every one, I understand them. Humans on the other hand, I have very few if any that I would call friend. You communicate beautifully and I thank you for your contribution to my education (we learn until the day we stop breathing),ViewDate:

Collie showcase imageBring all up to date. Kizzy is my friend, confidant and loving pet. She has had a hard life until I adopted her from the animal shelter. Kizzy is now six years and four months. I have my suspicions that she may have had an argument with a cat who dared visit our garden, her garden because I noticed that she has had a problem with her left eye. I brought her to the vet. The vet said that she could perform one of two operations i.e. try to save her left eye by trying to save her eyesight but that would cost possibly €800 + or, go straight and remove her left eye thereby removing discomfort and further pain costing €350+. Since Kizzy was a stray and adopted from the shelter, the only insurance I could have would be road accident so, I had to find the money. Kizzy had her left eye removed a week ago and I have been caring for her with much love. Later this morning I will take her back to the Vet and she will hopefully have the "cone" removed from her head. The vet knows that Kizzy only trusts in me, and she is very afraid of the clinic and the nurses and Vet. She has a split personality folks, she is loving and puts up with me but the clinic NO!, she goes crazy.ViewDate:
