Are you happy that Artificial Intelligence could be used to influence your shopping choices? My concern is around the fact that this could be used in a less than positive way, maybe even directing customers towards buying more expensive products in the name of making us more healthy.ViewDate:

Should the Prime Minister back down from proposals to cut the Winter Fuel Allowance? There are so many people whose income is just over the limit to receive Pension Credit, and they will suffer greatly if the WFA is withdrawn. If any income limit is to be applied, then it needs to much, much higher. Giving train drivers and junior doctors large pay rises, sending billions overseas to help Africa with global warming, is just despicable when you are taking what could be a lifeline away from some of the most vulnerable in our society.ViewDate:

Speakers Corner CommentsIf, like me, you are unhappy with the BBC's decision to remove the free TV licences to the over 75s, you might want to tap into the Silver Voices website and Facebook page. They are campaigning for the reinstatement of this benefit along with other topics of concern, such as rising funeral costs. For more information, here is the website address www,silvervoices.co.ukViewDate:

Will you be sending Christmas cards this year?Love sending and receiving Christmas cards but the cost of postage is off putting. Charities can often benefit from the purchase of the cards but only the Post Office benefits from us sending them. It would be great if the PO were to offer a special Christmas card rate which may also encourage more people to send them. In time, the tradition may well die out but it has had a good run!ViewDate:

Should over 70s be banned from voting on the country's future? How arrogant and self interested! Whilst the survey is small, it does seem to reflect a general trend towards disenfranchising the senior generation. I wonder how those young people will feel when it's their turn to be booted out of mainstream society. Whilst it is true that a higher proportion of the Leave votes during the referendum were cast by the older generation, I suspect that's because more of them made the effort to vote. I actively campaigned for the Leave vote in 2016 and met many young people who wanted us to wave bye bye to the EU and many older people who wanted us to remain tied to the EU. Once we start to disenfranchise any part of our community we are on a slippery slope to the demise of democracy. As a counter argument, sadly not all young people will survive until they are 70. Many will die prematurely due to accidents or illnesses so are we going to start preventing people who are living with disabilities or chronic illnesses from casting their votes because they won't live long enough?ViewDate:

Should 'wolf-whistling' be a crime? With so much serious crime on the streets, knife crime, muggings, theft, burglaries, grooming gangs, drugs and county lines, rapes and numerous others, it is wholly irresponsible to focus so much time and energy on the so called crime of wolf whistling. People who are mugged are afforded less consideration, people who are burgled or have their car stolen are lucky if they receive a visit from the police yet those crimes can have a more far reaching impact on a person's life than being wolf whistled at. They really do need to get their priorities in order!ViewDate:

Will you be stocking up on provisions for post-Brexit?This is all reminiscent of the Millenium Bug issue!! Provisions are in place to ensure a smooth transition and flow through of goods over the Channel. There could well be people who try and take advantage of the situation and hike prices due to 'shortages' but food will still be in plentiful supply!ViewDate:

Has Theresa May got the right financial balance for pensioners?Hi, yes you are right but the proposal in the manifesto is that the same arrangement will now also apply to care provided in the home. Consequently, the Government will recover some of the 'losses' in relation to care home fees. This is what people are concerned about and why it has been classed as a 'dementia tax'.ViewDate:

Has Theresa May got the right financial balance for pensioners?Whilst I acknowledge that tough decisions need to be made and we, as the more senior of our population, need to share in the responsibility of social care for the elderly, I do feel that the combined measures proposed are excessive. When you have worked, saved and taken responsibility for yourself and your family over the years and thus paid into the welfare fund, it is wrong that your savings and the equity in your house, your inheritance, should then be purloined for this purpose. If you have not worked or otherwise relied on benefits, do not own your own home and thus rely totally on the State for your income, then your care is paid for. Yes, we need to take care of those who, perhaps through no fault of their own, have not been able to work or have fallen on hard times, but nonetheless I feel aggrieved at this inequity. I do, however, believe that the Conservatives are the only viable party at the moment to ensure that the Brexit negotiations are conducted in line with the will of the majority of the UK citizens. It is crucial for our Country that we emerge from the negotiations with a fair and reasonable agreement so I will still be voting Conservative. However, I will be lobbying my MP to express my views and concerns over the care reforms and if we all did this then maybe, just maybe, the Government will listen - assuming the Conservatives are re-elected on 8 June.ViewDate:

Has Theresa May got the right financial balance for pensioners?Unfortunately, that might not work Allan. Currently, if you were to gift your house to your children, the Council will deem you to have transferred your assets in order to avoid paying for care fees and will still seek to include the value of your house in their calculations. Whether or not that will be the case under the new rules once they are determined is anyone's guess but for now hang fire and, if I might suggest, take some advice before taking this step. There are also Inheritance tax issues to consider if your estate would attract IHT on your death, so again expert advice will be beneficial. Whatever you decide to do I wish you good luck.ViewDate:

Living the Dream in your own Luxury RetreatAs far as I can tell from the Dream Lodge website their lodges do not have residential status. This means that anyone who bought with a view to living there permanently would in fact be breaking the law. We almost fell foul of this type of situation (not with Dream Lodge) a couple of years ago when we were led to believe that we could live in the lodge we were interested in buying providing we had another postal address that we could use. However, we subsequently found out that if the council discovered that people were indeed living in their lodge permanently they could serve them notice to leave. I would, therefore, suggest that anyone thinking of buying a lodge anywhere makes sure that the site does have council approved residential status before buying. It's also worth bearing in mind that when you do live in a residential lodge or park home you will have a maintenance charge to pay as well as council tax.ViewDate:

Do you support the Junior Doctor's latest planned 5 day strike?Anyone who still believes that the junior doctors are justified in striking should read this article by Dr Adam Dalby. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3770008/DR-ADAM-DALBY-used-support-strike-realise-ve-duped.html He was once a supporter of the strikes but is now completely opposed having taken the time to read what has actually been offered to the doctors by the Government and Jeremy Hunt. The BMA is pretending that this is all about patient safety when in fact it is clearly a politically motivated action aimed at derailing the Conservative party. Remember, the party was democratically elected with a manifesto to introduce 7 day care which it is now working towards delivering. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation are, no-one has the right to take industrial action which will undoubtedly cost lives and bring misery to thousands of people. A doctor is charged to 'do no harm'. Striking is totally against this tenet and is a completely unacceptable course of action. All is revealed in this article and will remove any doubt that all right thinking doctors should refuse to strike. Find another way. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3770008/DR-ADAM-DALBY-used-support-strike-realise-ve-duped.htmlViewDate:

Should Britain stay in the EU or is now the time to leave?Hi everyone. I am a new member and am delighted that there is a healthy debate going on around whether or not the UK should leave the EU. It was also heartening to find that, in the poll, some 75% of members are in favour of leaving, including me. This is a huge subject and one which is challenging to fully understand. However, for some of us it is a no-brainer when you factor in all the elements. The following is an article from The Telegraph Business section which aims to bust the myths around Brexit - hope you find it interesting and food for thought. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/05/02/why-its-time-to-bust-the-many-myths-surrounding-brexit2/ -
