I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyHello there....I am not going to be much use because I am just about to move from France (Courtesy of Brexit and after 11 1/2 very happy yrs here.Very sad, miserable as I don't want to go!) back to UK & I will be in the same isolated state as yourself !!!! By then( it will be about December when we go) you will be able to give me some tips on how to overcome it/make friends / etc; I'm going to Norfolk, are you anywhere near there ? Up VotesHello there.... I have problems with the site too. I can never find my way back to what I was doing the last time I visited. Also I wish that we had notifications by Email to say we have a reply ...which some site do. Have you found out what an UpVote is yet ? Now I have written this I will never know if there are anymore replies because I can never find the flipping threads again when I return.... Wish there was an easy way to follow a thread . He was 'just a cat.'Perhaps, as you say you are a solitary soul, the incident has brought you face to face with your own mortality ? Sad to say this often happens. Something similar did to me 3weeks ago when I long standing friend on Twitter (who I had never met & probably never would, but we really related about everything) died after a very short fight with cancer. When her husband Emailed to tell me (she had said nothing) I was filled with a huge sense of loss which has remained with me. I chat with a lot of people on there but its not the same ! I understand how you feel & I wish you well.ViewDate:

Do you use regular forums or do you prefer facebook?Having only just joined Silversurfers I am a bit confused by some of the comments below...are you comparing Siversurfers to Facebook or is there an actual SilversurfersFacebook ? ( I must get round to investigating) I really don't like Facebook, too many intimate, unnecessary personal details for my liking ! (Or perhaps I chose the wrong bits to look at, but I never wanted to go back again.) I prefer Twitter where I have made many friends to chat to....But it is a drag trying to hold an in depth conversation on there....ViewDate:

I have been forgotten, I no longer existOh dear - I won't say that I am sorry for you because you don't sound too worried yourself but I wonder if you are in need of a chat ? If so please chat to me....if you want to. I have spent many years alone on my birthday as my husband has always worked away from home for 3/4wks at a time & I too have become used to it. While living here in France I have tried to make friends but unless you belong to the English church here the English ex-pats don't want to know you !!! Nobody phones me either - except husband 3 or 4 times a day. My sister never bothers. No letters anymore= Does anybody want a big drawer full of stationary ?!!! I used to write a lot of letters but nobody bothers anymore because its easier to Email. One day there will be nothing for young people to look back on from descendants. I will stop before I bore you silly....I will end by saying - NO, its not you at all, although I can't pin point a reason/ cause/ answer to the dilemma ! Best wishes...SJV.ViewDate:
