terryc's bio
I'm 63, retired 3 years ago having spent all of my working life in the Printing Trade. I've been married to the wonderful Jenefer for 43 years and we both love travelling. I play a guitar, love all sorts of music, have recently taken up painting, write poetry and am grappling with photography. A few years ago we rode across America on Harleys with 20 of our friends and I can honestly say that was one of the highlights of my life. -

Should the House of Lords be reformed?Kick out all the present "Lords' and replace them with a quarter of the number by PR. This way, laws will be passed by representation. Pay them average wage and no expenses. Build a block of flats and allow them to live there (a contribution to the rent from them would be expected) and give them a rail pass for one return fare each week. Seems fair to me.ViewDate:

Should Britain stay in the EU or is now the time to leave? As this page seems to be a forum for mainly UKIP members, the poll is hardly surprising. Instead of just concentrating on immigration, spread the argument. For example, defence. United we are strong, divided we are weak. It's not all about underlying racism and insularity.ViewDate:

Which party do you trust to manage your pensioner benefits over the next 5 years? If people's decisions were based purely on what has been stated above and not partisan politics, then the Greens walk away with it.ViewDate:

Which party do you trust to manage your pensioner benefits over the next 5 years? The Tories have borrowed more (£430 billion) in their one term of office than Labour did (£429 billion) in 13 years, so I wouldn't trust them to run a sweet shop. Figures come from The Office Of National Statistics.ViewDate:

General election 2015 - NHS, Health and care party policies. The Greens have it for me because they want to take it out of private hands. Whatever the 32% so far of Conservatives think, they cannot deny that the NHS has been handled very badly on their watch. It may well have been bad under Labour but it is now extremely poor. Of course people have good experiences with the NHS but that is despite and not because of the privatised service that we now get. Mental health is so low down the list of priorities as to not exist. We have people in my county (Wiltshire) being transported to Leeds to get treatment, if they're lucky.ViewDate:

What will the Green Party do for you?Getting 15% of the vote is an excellent start for a relatively young party. It would guarantee at least the Green voice is heard in Parliament. The people of Swindon for instance now have a Green candidate in every council ward and have given everyone in the town a chance to vote for them.ViewDate:

After watching the pre-Election TV debate who performed the best? Here's a fact regarding our present government, make your own mind up. All statistics easily available from the Office for National Statistics and the OECD. Myth: Austerity has reduced the government's debt. Fact: This government has borrowed more in 4 years (over £430 billion) than Labour did in 13 years (£429 billion). The conclusion must be that austerity has failed.ViewDate:

What will the Green Party do for you?I would say that they know only too well how government works and want to change the system. Apart from the obvious ecological and environmental side to their politics, they want a fair deal for all and not just for the 1%. Not sure what in-fighting you're talking about either.ViewDate:

Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked or reinstated? There's no supposed about it, 'slope' is an extremely offensive word to some. Savile vs. Clarkson is a no contest, there is nothing to compare the two with. Savile was an evil paedophile and Clarkson isn't. Not acting at the time with Savile doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye to what Clarkson has done/said. On the other hand Clarkson is known for what most people would call racist behaviour and now, his alleged violence. If you can defend that, I would like to hear it.ViewDate:

Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked or reinstated?I've always looked at Top Gear as Last Of The Summer Wine for petrolheads. The only difference is the latter is funny. If Jeremy Clarkson assaulted somebody, then he should go, quite rightly, it's standard procedure anywhere. Whilst the facts are not known, it's widely reported by all newspapers that he allegedly hit another person, given that, are the people in favour of reinstating him seriously supporting violence. i feel that Clarkson comes across as a nasty bully and ultimately the BBC have to stand up to him if he's guilty. They've had a good run financially with this programme, time to let him go and show him that all actions have consequences. p.s. somebody posted earlier that Clarkson is a typical bloke, if that's true then god help us all. -
