Hildy1's bio
After spending the last twenty five years in North Northumberland and the Scotish Borders I have recently returned to my home city of Liverpool, big changes have taken place so I'm discovering it as I go.
I am a Youth and Community worker with over thirty years experience mainly in the voluntary sector. It has provided me with an incredible life, full of amazing memories and fantastic people.
I have two kids, who are in their twentys. They both live and work in Liverpool, my son has Aspergers which throws up all kinds of challenges for all of us.
I have been very lucky to find a fantastic job working in residential care, it's a keeper lol!, I've got great work colleagues in a lovely work environment, not many like this around !!
When I lived in Northumberland a friend and I opened a small gift shop, which was very successful until the recession hit, my business partner and I also took on the running of a very busy cafe, that was an experience not to be missed!!
Being back in Liverpool is bringing loads of memories flooding back, I've been able to meet up with old friends, share stories and have a laugh. I'm just adjusting to life in a city again after spending the last twenty odd years in a town and then life on a farm, it all took some adjusting to, I feel I've come full circle lol!
I have loads of plans for the future but at the moment I want to meet new friends and share life stories, enjoy the fruits of my job and plan to take as many trips to new places as possible. My big wish is to return to America, were I once worked, and visit friends over there, I would also love to go back to Disneyworld Florida and Epcot in particular.
My other great passion is continuing my spiritual path, I am a third generation Medium and Psychic, I used to run a development group for like minded people in and around the Borders. At the moment I am taking time to study new ideas and developments in the feild of Quantum and Meta Physics, I have just discovered Tedx talks on You Tube, amazing!!! -

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi Sandy, nice to get chance to chat, I,ve been working and my shifts include sleepovers so i'm bable to chat away today lol! I've never been to kent, I want to do more travelling in the next few years and meet up with my friends from college days, some of them I haven't seen for over thirty years, they are well spred out, I'm in Liverpool, just back after 24 years away in the scotish borders, I am a youth worker and whilst up in Northumberland a friend and I opened a gift shop, that was fun, I now work in a childrens residential home, I just love it I would love a dog but don't have enough time in the house to look after 1 :( I am about to seek out the aqua arobics classes, i've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which is soooo! painful, I used to do 2hr of excercise before all of his now i just bout walk somedays, I like to keep fit soi need to find something I can do, how about u? wat keeps you active? Do you miss Spain? I would love to live in warmer climate but most of the people I now who did live out in Spain or Cyprus have come back, I worked in American when I was in my 20s and the company I worked for asked me to stay but I wanted to be qualified in youth work so I came home to go to college but its my biggest regret, I loved it out there Hay ho! give me a shout back or what ever they say lol!ViewDate:

Looking for new friends to chat withHi RoaieB, It seems ages since I was on here, I had all my shifts changes and this is the first time i have had time to sit on the laptop, You certainly are in an exciting time at the moment, waiting for a new family member :) Do you get the chance to be a " full time Gran" ? lol :) I'm really lucky to have the job I have because I get to look after children from 10 to 16 in residental care, It's like having a family but I then get to go home for some peace heehee!! I don't think I know anyone from Kent, It's a area of the country I need to explore, I am toying with getting a small caravan so I can go exploring, I have friends all over britain, it would be nice time go visit them someday Well i'm off to see if I can go book my car in to a local garage, I sound like a boy racer and my boss has made several comments about the noise lol:) bye for now xx I'm Hilary by the way xViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi Laura, Sorry I didn't get back right away I was called into work to cover shifts for a colleague, what you said about discovering you had dyslexia has certainly made your life difficult, wow! My name is Hilary by the way :) I hope life is more managable these days, life takes us on twists and turns when we least expect it, then we sink or swim!!! :) It's only now when I look back I think I could write a book about the things I've done and the people that have shaped my life, especially some people lol!!, I always wanted to be a teacher but by the end of my schooling I became disillusioned with the whole education system, most of my teachers ended up policing the classroom, thats why I went into youth work, it seemed more rewarding at that time. I know you are surrounded by wonderful hills and beautiful contryside, I would love to walk and climb again but I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, arthritis in the muscles, I sometimes can't lift my arms and I stumble alot, It's managable with meds, I'm hoping to find a swimming keepfit classs that fits in with my shifts, I don't know if you are aware but the government have decided that those born after 1956 can't retire on state pension until they are 68 so I am trying to keep as fit as poss so I can work and manage the pain for the next 13 years lol:) I have been discussing fostering but I want to leave that for a few years yet to see what else might be available to me as I reach retirement. As you say the younger generation don't see any value in older peolpe but I am determind to end my days working in youth work lol:) You didn't tell me if you had any witching experience ?? I would love to know :)ViewDate:

Just joined so I'm introducing myself.Hi celtwitch, I love your contact name:) I hope you are a witch, I would love to chat with you about your witchness heehee! I also love the fact that you went to uni at 59, high five to you!!! and you chose Liverpool, you brave women heehee! What subject did you take at uni? I'm just entering the world of OAP, I'm 55 I left school in the 70s and worked for Sunblest bakeries in their computer dpt, Nothing like the computers today lol! I worked there for several years but wanted to have a job working with humans not machines so left, trained as a telephonist then after the mass unemployment of the 80s I was sent on a back to work scheme working a youth worker and bob's your uncle I'd found my niche, I went on to go to college to get my diploma in youth work and the get a diploma in counselling (neither diploma's are worth the paper they were written on I'm now told), I went on work in a very busy young peoples drop-in in the city centre, we offered counseling, information and avice to anyone aged 13 to 28. It was a fantastic job. I later relocated to Northumberland to become deputy manger in a simular project, I had two kids by this time but aleays wanted to come back to Liverpool. In 2005 me and a mate opened a small new age gift shop, I was a third generation Medium and she a witch so I read Tarot and she advised on spells and gave crystal healing etc. I still did p/t youth work but we also took over a busy cafe so life was hectic to say the least. Now I'm back in Liverpool, I've just got a job working in a childrens home and I love it, I seen as a gran figure, which suits lol! It means lots of sleep overs or 10-10 shifts but I have no dependants so I can do it, I feel sorry for the younger ones with families, they spend a lot of time away from home, I've just met back up with a women friend I used to work with 30yrs ago and we've been meeting up once a month, I hope we can get up to mischief in the future lol! I used to a lot of outdoor activities before I had the kids then never got the opportunity to indulge, even living in Northumberland. My son has Autism so I was the only person who wanted to look after him, everyone bailed, even his father, another lemon lol! Now I've got the time to indulge I've got rheumatism in my ankle and hip so can't lol! It's sad you think of yourself as a discarded bus ticket, I hope you can work on changing that image of yourself. Maybe as well as lemons we can get ice cream ?? as well!! Your turn now to spill the beans, what did you get upto before being a discarded bus ticket? lol!ViewDate:

Looking for new friends to chat withPlease don't think you are boring :), I have just moved back to my home city of Liverpool and all my family but I wish I hadn't bothered, They are all too busy and leading their own lives so I feel isolated and lonely. I was in North Northumberland for 18 years with my partner and the kids dad but we split up and then I met my husband (big mistake), we moved over the border into Scotland My husband and I used to have 9 dogs, 2 Labs, 3 Spaniels, 2 Terriers and a miniture Jack Russel, they were working dogs and when my husband and I left Scotland to move to his home town in the Midlands we had to make the hard choice of re homeing those we could, 1 died and I had to have my dog put down cuz she was ill, we took 4 with us, then I realised that he was a nasty man and high tailed it back to Liverpool lol! I have two kids, a boy and a girl, both in their 20s now. My boy has autism (aspergers) it has its challenges for all of us. I don't think I've ever been to Kent where in Kent do you live?ViewDate:

Should Britain agree to take more refugees?I know several family friends who would not be in my life now if our country had not have taken refugee's, I have 2 jewish friends and friends with an Italian family who's grand parents escaped Hitler and Mussolini, My aunty who spoke chinese volunteered to learn vietmanese to help families who escaped Pol Pot as "boat people", I met 2 girls, they lost siblings who drowned making their desperate escape and my mum took in a young boy escaping from Bosnia. Most of the kids I went to school with had grand parents and great grand parents who had escaped Ireland for being catholic. They all came with tragic personal stories of loss, not one of their families wanted to leave their homes, buinesess, extended families, pets, school friends, neighbours, culture etc etc but some of them had to to survive, they gave their kids a chance to live, be educated and find work and!!!! they all pay their taxes to this country, non of the people I know get benefits, I know loads of Brits who doViewDate:

Just moved back to my home town of Liverpool, is any body else from Merseyside?Hiya Veronique, Nice of you to respond lol! It's a whole new set of rules of engagement and language when you start chatting on "social media" lol!, I opted out of typing in school, I wanted to work with people, well I can do that standing on my head but I wish I had took typing now, even basic level lol! I've just bought a computer and internet mannual but I'm still hopeless lol!. It's so time consuming when you don't quite know what your doing lol! I went to St. Helens a couple of weeks back for a chinese banquet. It's a very busy place is St.Helens, I encountered several "assertive" drivers on the way into town lol! Both my cousins are actresses and I used to go to the theatre a lot before I moved away, I haven't got back into going yet, mainly because I'm still finding my feet being back. I love my city and know a fair bit about parts of it but I love find out new things. Chat again soon xViewDate:

MOVING HOME ALONE ......AND TO A NEW PART OF THE COUNTRYHi hun, I,ve jst joined today, but I read your posting and it resinated with me so much, I have jst returned to my home city of Liverpool after spending twenty five years in North Northumberland and the Scotish Borders. I left with my man and two kids but I knew no one and had little support from my mans family. Although I had a partner his job took him away a lot and I felt extremely isolated and lonley. I dreamed of returning to Liverpool, to familiar teritory. I have jst moved back on my own, I sold things I didn't want, gave loads away and with the help of a mate I hired a van to make the move back home. What I found was, although I have all my family here, no one wants to know me, not in a nasty way but because I have been away so long I don't have the shared family experiences and I feel like a total stranger amongst them all. They are all busy with their own lives. Before I left we used to meet up once a week as a whole family (16 + sometimes) to share food and stories, now I have to ring them for an invite for a cuppa and thats once in a blue moon, they don't ring me. When I lived away I used to hear about their holidays together or the camping trips, where three generations of family would meet up and I'd hear about the family parties I'd miss via my mum ringing me and I longed to be part of it. I feel just as alone and isolated in my home town amongst my own kin as I was when I left them but I will use this now to my advantage to start something new,I don't know what yet but this forum is a start, I have real friends all over this country just not on my door step but making new friends is all part of the appeal and I'm glad I made the move because I'm starting again. I found a lovely little house to rent, cuz I don't want sleepless nights worrying about whether the chimney will come crashing through the roof and will the insurance pay out, I'm just getting or not to know my neighbours, some days I'm as lonely as hell but other days I have a coversation with a stranger and it feels worth while, for the moment it's the place I want to be, I'm not stagnating or living to exsist which I would have done if I hadn't moved, I'm just going to take each day, I look at opportunities and if they appeal I'll go for it so I hope you make your move cuz there is always something and someone new to find, good luck -
