I am retired and love walking and photography. I am a member of RSPB and visit reserves with our local group once a month.
I also like to visit Scotland a couple of times a year. Aberfoyle in the winter and the beautiful Isle of Mull later in the year.
I also like reading, kindle and real books. -

Make your own dog treatsMy pup will not touch frozen Yogurt,. I made biscuits from a Battersea dogs home recipe which she turned her nose up at. If i used bought treats for training on a walk she will not eat them but nuzzles my pcket when we arrive home and sit on the step to take my boots off. If I leave a treat in the crate when I leave her to nip out for my newspaper or some shopping she will not eat it till I get back and let her out. I no longer buy shop bought treats as most give her the 'runs'. She likes pieces of banana if I chew it first. I keep trying different things but she is very particular is Reba.ViewDate:

Clever uses for citrus peelI always use lemon juice to remove tea, coffee or fruit stains from my light worktops and keep a small squeezy type bottle from the supermarket for this purpose. Will be trying some of the above tips for using the peel. Thank youViewDate:

Expert tips on 9 summer cleaning jobs to do nowCan't believe these jobs are not done as a matter of routine.I have my duvet dry cleaned. Wash pillows in machine. Clean washing machine every couple of months using products especially sold to do the inside. Hoover and turn mattress regularly and wash mattress cover. shampoo carpets and rugs, wash curtains clean out cupboards and wardrobes in the spring. i always swill my wheelie bins with floral disinfectant and wipe round the outside. Move fridge and freezer to clean underneath staem clean bathroom tiles. There is no end to the drudgery!ViewDate:

Does your mattress really make a difference to the quality of your sleep?My mattress is 20 years old and it feels it. I would not sleep on a foam mattress as foam is made from chemicals like polyester and it is said these leach into the skin over time. this is also why I go for cotton bedding and feather fillings. I would love an old fashioned mattress with springs and natural fibres. I will have to keep saving up though.ViewDate:

I do get concerned when it is more than an hour. it is worse trying to recall a name when the person is in front of you and you can't dredge it up from the recesses of the mind..ViewDate:

Should shops continue to take cash?Taking a weekly amount out of the bank for housekeeping is easier to keep track of spending. I hate using my debit card for piddling amounts which you can't keep a check on unless you have a bag full of receipts, which will not be eco friendly. Turkey meatballs in tomato sauceI was recently wondering about mincing chicken to make meat balls. I can follow this recipe. or coat in breadcrums and fry. I make my own beef mince and make a flatish Pattie. Instead of breadcrumbs I soak a slice of bread(with crust removed) in milk, squeeze to remove liquid and tear it into pieces to add to the meat. Once seasoning and chopped onions added I mix well with fingers, then make into patties and fry in olive oil. Usually make a cauliflower cheese to go with them. Made the sweet potato soup yesterday with enought to freeze. Very tasty.ViewDate:

Does wearing a face mask when out make sense to you?There are conflicting views on the wearing of face masks even between the experts. After being near people coughing and not covering their mouths, seeing men spitting in the street and people not adhering to the 2 metre spacing rule I have bought myself masks to wear. I feel safer when in town or in busy shops. They are not very comfortable and as a spectacle wearer I get steamed up but I do feel safer in public places. I have found that a pre formed mask works better for me with less steaming up as they fit tighter over the top of the nose.ViewDate:

Should companies offer 'Pawternity' leave?If you are at work you most definitely should not have a dog. I have to live with a barking dog who is shut in all day while it's owner is at work. That is mental cruelty. Why have a dog if you are not there for it. Even when the owner is home he hardly ever takes it out for exercise. He prefers to roll a ball across the lounge floor. This is a border collie, a working dog used to the outdoors. Why should I have the stress of having no peace in my own home.ViewDate:

How would you solve the NHS crisis?When I was working my NI contributions stopped at 60 yrs even though I worked another 4 yrs.
