anntrousisme's bio
I enjoy painting with either watercolours or acrylic paints. I read mainly novels, particularly Agatha Christie. I listen to various kinds of music from classical - Beethoven (particularly piano sonatas) - to Elvis (the greatest rock'n'roll balladeer who's ever lived). I like visiting art galleries, National Trust England and Scotland properties and Woodlands Trust. I like TV quiz programmes and arts documentaries. Big fan of Dickens, Bronte, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie dramatisations, and programmes such as Line of Duty. -

Will you be venturing to the shops this week?I've found that I can have just about everything I need delivered e.g groceries and other essentials. I'm biding my time until I know I'll feel confident to buy other things (like treats from that hotel that sells chocolat!) without being worried about whether it's safe to go out anywhere I want to go. I realise that will be a while yet but I'm prepared to wait. Hopefully I'll enjoy it more.ViewDate:

Is breakfast the most important meal of the day?Couldn't agree more. Now I'm retired breakfast can be eaten when I feel like it. Sometimes it's brunch really!ViewDate:

Do you have trouble sleeping? It's comforting to know I'm not alone in having to cope with broken sleep. I've also tried decaff coffee with warm milk before bed, reading my book in bed for half an hour or so, closing my eyes and counting "1 2 3"" several times, or just simply 'not trying' to sleep. Some things work for me (sometimes), some don't. If I discover a foolproof way, I'll let you know!!ViewDate:

Would you be prepared to pay more tax to fund the NHS?I wonder how much it would have cost my parents for the skills of the paediatric surgeon who saved my life when I had peritonitis in 1951 when I was 6 years old, had there been no NHS by then. I have nothing but praise for the NHS as I have received very good health care all my life. I had to wait for several months for a 3 hour spinal operation by a neurosurgeon 10 years ago (how much would that have cost?) but it was worth the wait. I think adults over 21 should pay a (possibly variable) contribution for life. I would be very willing to pay a contribution at source from my state pension as soon as practicable, provided the amount involved is fairly worked out for all of us. -
