Dance halls in the 1950s - can you help me?Heavenly bliss - Went on a Saturday night to the Embassy dance hall, Swansea, If we went early it was free, If we were lucky a gentleman would buy my friend and I a drink, a babycham or orange juice, otherwise water from the tap. There was no food. Couldn't afford the cloak room, so hid our coats under a chair. They had a fabulous big band orchestra to which we danced a variety of types of Dance, waltz, tango, quick step, barn dances where we exchanged partners in a circle, Caught the last bus home bus home (12pm I think) or walked 2 miles home with a group of friends singing all the way. - climbed into an unlatched window to get into my home, as all were asleep.
