Bangkok - has anyone been there?I'm sorry but nothing is ever going to excuse the actions of the these men to me, I was sickened by the sight of them , apparently the majority are Russians.ViewDate:

Bangkok - has anyone been there?I visited Thailand recently to visit my uncle's grave at Chung Kai , as I didn't know much about the geography I ebded up with a hotel in Pattaya. I'm told that it's very much like bangkok and if that's so I'd not lower myself to go there again. I was disgusted to see old European men , men like myself, walking down the street with a dolly bird young enough to be their granddaughter on their arm or see the girls in the bars , I only went out once at night. The sexual explitation of the poverty stricken Thais is sickening and I'm not a prude but I do have a sense of decency,ViewDate:

Scrap the Sovereign Grant?I'm 100% with you on this Lionel. I am and always have been a confirmed Royalist having taken an oath of allegiance to the monarchy. What people fail to realise when they talk of replkacing the Queen with a president because of the cost is that in the USA all ex presidents still living are paid an enormous pension (Last year, the federal government spent a total of $3.25 million on the four former presidents still living.) the children of ex presidents get secret service security until they are 16. Apart from the expense the monarchy stops us having a politician in charge with almost unlimited powers compared to |HM The Queen. I have yet to hear a republican explain how us becoming a republic would improve their lives.ViewDate:

UK Census 2021fail to see how anyone can object to filling out a census , it's a useful tool for government planning and of course hasm't been misused in the past. I had my forms through the post with instructions how to do it on line if I wished , which I did. It seems to me that the country is getting paranoid , you can't move without coming across conspiracy theorists.ViewDate:

Great Rail Journeys USA Coast to coast departing Sep 12th - 30th.I've been getting my trips mixed up. After I retired I managed 6 trips to visit my late brother who'd been living in and around Victoria for about 40 years. , The Indian Pacific trip as only one way to visit an old army mate now living in Perth (Joondalup) and I flew back. The Nullarbor trip was another visit when I stayed with my brother in Castlemaine, Vic and while there I bought a second hand Ford falcon and after having done a return trip to visit a Niece in Bega and a Nephew in South Grafton I went back to Castlemaine for a couple of weeks then set off up country to Katherine to spend a week with another nephew , from there I drove across to Port Hedland and then down to Perth. After a fortnight with my mate and his family I set off back to Castlemaine across the Nullarbor . In all I was there for 12 weeks and covered 16,000 miles. I gave the car to my brother when I came home and he ran it for about 4 years. I'm afraid at 83 my long haul trips are behind me. As a former trucker I was not only used to long drives but was, and am , quite happy with my own company. One of the funny things that I've never forgotten was when I stopped at a roadhouse in nFitzroy Crossing thinking I'd get a couple of slices of toast and a coffee to be told that they didn't do toast as " We don't have the equipment".ViewDate:

Things that stick in your mindI can't believe that with all the planets that you can see on a clear night we are the only one with intelligent life on it although it seems sometimes that the intelligent is getting less apt on ours.ViewDate:

What did your mum used to say?My mother's favourite was when you came into the house and left a door open she always said "Shut the door, were you born in a barn"ViewDate:

Great Rail Journeys USA Coast to coast departing Sep 12th - 30th.I'd have loved it but at 83 I have to be sensible , I did the Indian - Paci fic in Australia a few years ago and if you enjoy your trip as much as I enjoyed mine it will have been time and money well spent . As a matter of interest I bought a second hand car in Perth so I could top off the trip by driving , solo, back across the Nullarbor , a few people said I shouldn't but at 72 what's to worry about?ViewDate:

What do you think of Starmer's leadership of the Labour Party?I don't think so. Of all the MPs from all parties there was no one more determined to ignore the result of the Brexit referendum , like it or not it was the decision of the majority,ViewDate:

Missing the grandchildren due to lockdownWhat actually constitutes a grandchild , I have a son with 5 children from 2 marriages but have two girls who are the biological granddaughters of a lady I went out with for a while after my divorce and I have to admit that I have more in common with the latter two because I had more to do with them when they were growing up. I love them all equally and simply consider them grandchildren. I don't know if that makes sense but it does to me.
