Should shops continue to take cash?A slightly different stance on the subject, what about buying from private individuals or will homeless people have to apply for a card reader for those who wish to give money?ViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Babs, I'm planning to use public transport to get around, though car hire could come into it, I've driven across Europe and around Australia but I do find driving long distances very tiring. I think the most practical way to get to Atacama is to fly from Santiago, there are no trains north of the city and it's a very long way. Probably good to meander south from say, Arica on buses or driving, I don't think roads outside built up areas are all that busy, have to look into that. I'll probably invest in the Lonely planet or Rough guide book to check things out. Regards AdieViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?Hi Babs, Thanks for your reply. Yes, the Atacama desert, the only moisture there is from sea fog, I believe. I hope to visit for 4-5 weeks round about October time next year, just coming into southern spring. The plan is to start off in Santiago, staying for a couple of days, then onto the Atacama before travelling south to visit the lake district, wine country, and finish off in the south, Torres del Paine. Early days yet but planning to arrange accomodation along the way. Sound interesting? Regards, Adrian, or Adie.ViewDate:

TRAVELING SOLO AND LOOKING FOR A COMPANION?During my working years as a trainee pensioner, who has now reached that wonderful stage in life, I spent a lot of time working long hours to finance my travels to such far flung countries as Iceland and Australia ( 5 visits,) Costa Rica to Vietnam and other places in between, always travelling solo except on 1 or 2 occasions. Although I have at times struggled with osteoarthritis for over 30 years and more recently rheumatoid ( as the osteo needed a companion,) I never let it deter me from getting out and about. I have been shielding during lockdown and in that time my arthritis has eased somewhat, thanks to the wonders of modern medication and the care I have recieved and exercise of course, so hoping to travel again when it's safe to do so. I have been fascinated by Chile for a while and making plans to visit towards the end of 2022. By chance, as I took a short rest after getting my 2nd covid vaccination, I listened to radio 4's From our own correspondent, reporting on the Chilean vaccination programme, which is well advanced. I see that as a plus. So here's a tongue in cheek enquiry as to whether there is an intrepid adventurer who could accompany me on such a trip, or perhaps tolerate me, ha ha.ViewDate:

Have you been happy with accessing NHS care online?I have had several online appointments with rheumatology and found the service quite easy to manage despite not being all that PC savvy.ViewDate:

Will you be taking advantage of lockdown easing? After spending a year shielding, I will certainly make use of lockdown easing to get out and about , in as safe a manner as I can and enjoy my pre twilight years. Only get one life, need to live it.ViewDate:
