Bruce9999's bio
Hi. I’m newly retired. Happily married. Kids, grandchildren keep us busy. Heath care worker in Cardiology for 40 years.
We live in upstate New York USA. We say upstate because when everyone thinks of New York, they think the city. There are 650,000 miles of Adirondack Park here at hand. I have ne,ver blogged before but thoughts of conversations with others around the world made me want to try it. -

Make new friendsYou are correct. Cornwall, not Cardiff. Port Isaac actual. All look scenic. Just returned from Maine. Father and mother grew up there. Older brother lived in cabin build by my dad when he was 18. Now my brother has built a post and beam house so we visit when we can. This area of Maine consists of PHD lecturers to lobstermen. All ready to give opinions on our political quagmire. My other brother runs an Apple orchard that he married into. Tough business with long seasons. 3000-4,000 trees. We live in upstate New York right next to the Vermont border. Adirondack park with 650,000 acres within day traveling distance for mountaineer ing. 46 peaks above 3,000 feet which many hikers try to accomplish. Maybe with retirement, I'll give a couple a shot. We have 4 kids between us. Second marriage. All live close by. 3 grandchildren. 2yrs, 9 months and a newer one at 4 weeks. They all keep us busy on the weekends! Joined a group on Facebook that discusses BBC shows and such. Interesting how well written your mysteries are. Many in the states agree that American tv is not worth watching. I agree. I will rummage thru my mother's information of our family tree and see what I can decipher from the notes. It would be interesting to get a new perspective on our past from someone who lives in the area. Take care of you and yours, Thanks for listening BruceViewDate:

Make new friendsWe have not seen local hero, but will check it out. Have watched Hinterland which is based in Wales. Beautiful scenery. Our ancestors apparently came from Nottingham area ( probably too broad for exacts) according to my grandma. My grandfather was orphaned and left at a home in Canada after traveling from England with his mom. Hard to get completed tree line. Newfoundland is probably were we will travel to in spring once the border between US and Canada re- open. Until then, it’s trips to New England for stress release. Still working a little at hospital. Cardiology. Semi- retired. Have to stop answering phone when they call for help. Reading DCI book based out of Norfolk. Always google map area to understand story. Also Cardiff on Doc Martin is on the list. So many places, so little time.ViewDate:

Make new friendsScotland, Norway, southeast Ireland. Apparently family originated there. Mayo county. We love off the beaten path. Not into large cities. Now just trying to travel to New England Camden soon for a getaway. I read to many stories from on your side and quickly become energized. The show Shetland gives me scenes that I would love to visit. Bruce9999ViewDate:

Make new friendsHi Island Pat, Just looked up on Google where in Cyprus you are. That is a beautiful place. Here in the New England area of United States the coast is also very dramatic. We spend a lot of time driving into Maine and discovering new coves. Things are getting semi-back to normal here. Not really a touristy area where I’m from but a lot of businesses are just opening up.Both my wife and I are in the healthcare business working in hospitals. I retired last August and have enjoyed a Perdiem status. We intend to start traveling soon as she is a little younger than I and still working.ViewDate:

Make new friendsHi Nartane, Nice to meet you. It’s raining here in New York, but that should resolve itself in a couple hours. I get a chance to walk a lot and cycle as my friend pushes me to stay in shape. Some days there is not enough Tylenol in the medicine cabinet! I read many books and stay active with grandchildren and my wife who is a little younger than I and still works full-time. Feel free to write back.ViewDate:

Make new friendsHi Larger, Things are lifting over here in upstate New York. Getting out and about a nice change. Have not read Jeffrey archer books yet, as I have been reading Icelandic mysteries as of late. I have also enjoyed Peter May and his black house trilogy based in Scotland. We have never been to Europe and hope to do so in the near future. From reading so many books from Norway, Iceland, Scotland and other interesting areas, it is hard to pin down exactly where to go first New England is where we spend a lot of our time, especially the Maine coast and up into nova Scotia. Stay well and enjoy booksViewDate:

CyclingHi Valerie. Biking has become a great release for me mentally and physically. Many hills here in UpState New York. Albany area. I can’t help in finding a route as I don’t know the area, ( would love to get to Wales someday), but find a flat area, maintain revolutions and enjoy the scenery. -
