Hello there,
I'm Nikki & I'm also known as The Keynsham Poet. I write light-hearted poetry all the time & I mean all the time. It's a daily occurrence & many of my poems get shared via 'The Keynsham Poet' Facebook. I've had several published in local newspapers and I've been commissioned to write poems for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays & funerals. I've been writing poetry ever since I can remember & some are obviously much better than others. I'm from a large family so have had plenty of inspiration over the years. I'm inspired by world events, weather, animals, people, politics & more recently the dreaded coronavirus. I'd like to share my poems with you from time to time. Hope you enjoy! -

Should the Prime Minister back down from proposals to cut the Winter Fuel Allowance?Removing the winter fuel payment from everyone is a big mistake. It should be means tested properly, not just given to those on pension credit. There are so many people that do not qualify for pension credit but who are definitely not wealthy. Fuel prices set to increase as well will push a lot of elderly people in to fuel poverty. Is some countries elderly people are considered important & valuable members of society. They are protected, respected & taken care of as a thank you for their hard work & everything they did in their lives to improve the lives of the next generation. Here, it seems the elderly are treated as a nuisance & as though they in the way. I have a 90 year old mum & a 90 year old mother-in-law & I’m very happy to have them both. They are strong, independent women living in their own homes but both with age related ailments, however, they are not ready for the scrap heap.ViewDate:
