Should daylight savings be abolished?I think the short term advantage is just not worth it. For working people it means it’s dark at both ends of the day.ViewDate:

English GrammarYes, definitely. I’m amazed by the number of people who don’t know the difference between there, their and they’re. Many other similar examples such as who’s, whose etc etc. We have a beautiful language which should be learned, used and enjoyed.ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months?I agree to a large extent, Wilf. The situation at work is very fluid at the moment with pretty restrictive measure in place to reduce footfall in the hospital. Even on lockdown people will have to shop for food. Wishing you well at this difficult time.ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months? The supermarkets themselves need to step up. We went to Costco today and everything was very organised. The numbers of people in the store, how many of which items they could buy etc. There were also staff checking the trolleys before customers got to the tills and removing any excessive items. Oh, and the handle of every trolley was disinfected before you used it!ViewDate:

Is it realistic to expect over 70s to remain in their homes for 4 months?I'm 61 and my husband is 71. My Mum lives in an annex to our house and is 82. She's accepted the isolation to a large degree although she's upset about not seeing my brothers. I still work in the NHS part time and my husband walks the dogs and does a lot of the shopping and most of the cooking. I'm worried about either of us getting infected and then my Mum getting ill. I see her every day and do my best to ease her isolation. She's got an iPad and is on FaceBook and WhatsApp! She gets lots of calls from friends and relatives, too. My husband is refusing to isolate and is basically carrying on as normal - albeit with additional hand washing and social distancing. Not every has friends or family to shop for them and I can see many becoming lonely and isolated.ViewDate:

Is the UK Government doing enough to lessen the spread of Covid-19?It is a very difficult line to tread between the premature introduction of draconian restrictions and allowing some normality. We've been talking to friends who live in France this evening. They have to have paperwork with them when leaving the house - who, where, why etc and can't even go out together for any purpose. Boris was right to close the pubs etc and personally I think they should have done this a week ago - especially in London. I've stocked up on compost and seeds and am intending to have a beautiful and productive garden this summer.ViewDate:

Have motorists forgotten their manners? Not everyone, but many people. I’ve had cars stop right in front of me across a junction when they’re in standing traffic and I’m indicating to turn right. I don’t think many drivers have adequate awareness of what’s going on around them.ViewDate:

On World Obesity Day: 6 reasons you’re not losing weightI've just lost 2 stone with Slimming World. I know groups aren't for everyone but I have found it really helpful. The eating plan is easy to follow, flexible and you're NOT hungry! I went on my own but my husband has eaten the same food - he's also lost over 2 stone. I'm sixty in December and want to enter this next decade fit and healthy.ViewDate:

Would you move to be closer to grandchildren? My son and his family live in Hamburg. We do visit them a couple of times a year and they come back here as often as they can. I have two lovely granddaughters whom I love dearly. Although I do feel I'm missing out, they have their own lives, friends etc and I wouldn't move to Germany as I have the same here.ViewDate:

Would you get Botox or fillers done on the High Street?Anyone considering this should be very careful where they go. We don’t know the long term effect of all these products either. Several much younger people I know have had lip fillers in their twenties.ViewDate:

Should shops remain closed on Boxing Day?Surely everyone is shopped out by then? Never go near a shop on Boxing Day - it's a day to relax after a usually hectIc Christmas Day! The people who work in retail work damned hard in the run up to Christmas - they deserve some time off!ViewDate:

Do you agree with Cryogenic Preservation?I don't have any religious affiliation, it's the practicalities for me. No one has been successfully 'woken up' as far as I know. If it's years from now everyone and everything you knew will be changed or gone. None of us find it easy to think about our own demise, but this certainly isn't the answer.ViewDate:

Are hospital trusts cashing in on the sick? Our local hospital uses the money raised to pay for the security staff and maintaining car parts within the hospital. There is a fixed charge and discount for relatives of the critically ill. I don't begrudge it. -
