A QUICK GUIDE TO HELP YOU ON YOUR WAYHi Paul, get out now & meet people, join a few clubs, the U3A is good. I say this as my husband & I grew old together, our children are overseas & we didn't need any one. He passed away on Easter Monday, I had looked after him during his last 6 months of illness, he didn't want to go to a hospice or nursing home. I experienced dreadful loneliness, I had no friends, I told the family not to come over, there seemed no point once he had died. I'm coming right now, have made a few friends. Our doctor commented that one can't pour from an empty jug, that is what happened,ViewDate:

Silversurfers Forum: "How To" GuideTerry, I don't know Jane, but my best friend was gay, he was a wonderful man. We had fun and could discuss most things. He passed away in 2003, I still miss him. My uncle was also gay, he died a couple of months before Jeffrey, he was also good company & interested in many things. Yes, I would also like a gay man as a friend again.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Forum: "How To" GuideI like the idea of love continuing. My husband died on Easter Monday, he had been very ill for a long time. I am ambiguent about love, I think it's a hormone rush, replaced by deep friendship & caring. I sent his ashes back to South Africa where he was happiest, they had many adventures, the ship was confiscated as there was a contamination on board, he was forgotten, eventually made it to Cape Town, left in a warehouse. Then he was picked up, forgotten again & rolled about in the boot of a car for a week. A friend's daughter found them & he finally made it to the MoTHs in Fish Hoek. There was a service for him given by the padre, & his ashes finally interred in the Garden of Remembrance. Yesterday I received a DVD taken by his friend of the service & the wake, and now I've found closure. Brian was adjutant at the Battledress Shellhole. The Member of the Tin Hats are an ex army organisation for people who have served on the front line during a war. The are a charity & help fellow ex servicemen &'women, important in South Africa where there are no benefits nor government help. Of course we had lots of fun & made great friendships. Sadly Brian's health deteriorated after his second by pass, I wanted to come home , he came willingly but was never happy or settled. He is back now, under the sunny sky near the beach, I hope he has found peace at last. Like you, I have no religion nor belief in much really. I love animals, I have three rescue dogs, they are toy poodles, cute, naughtie & the very devil to house train, they are retired mummy dogs so came to me from kennel situations.ViewDate:

Silversurfers Forum: "How To" GuideHi, I have been a member for several months but only started chatting yesterday. I live in Hampshire, near the coast, with three toy poodles, they are good company but quite bossy. My husband passed away on Easter Monday, he had survived by pass surgery twice, 1984, 1994, but been very ill for several months. I have three sons, they all live abroad. I alternate between sloth & activity, holiday quite happilty on my own, my husband liked different holidays. I cruise & go on coach tours. We lived in Southern Africa for 30+ years, had some adventures, saw many things. Politically I'm a bit radical, although Mrs May seems to have grasped the bull by the horns, early days, talk is cheap, I'll keep an open mind. I enjoy chatting & hope to hear from people. I'm not looking for romance, two husbands are enough for me, so friendship, women or men.ViewDate:

Has anyone travelled with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines before??I have been on a couple of cruises this year, one in March on the Magalan, she sails from Tilbury, I think its the Marine & Cruise Line. I really enjoyed it, particually the evening meal, we were groupsed as singles about the same age group, it worked well. I arrived back on Sunday from a cruise on the P& O ship, the Azura. It's a lovely ship, but sadly I found dinner times traumatic & spent most having room service in my cabin. They have free dining, I had two choices, be put on a different table every night or sit alone. I tried the larger tables, Couples & groups found an elderly single woman foistered on them a pain, on my last try at sitting alone a strange strange drunken woman on the next table found it amusing to pull faces & stick her tongue out at me. The other meal times were no problem,. I am going on a Fred Olsen cruise in January so will see how that works. I have cruised before, but until this year with either my friend or husband, both have passed away, so will keep trying. I also went on a coach holiday this year, that was quite pleasant. I don't mind being alone, prefer it during the day as I can find plenty to amuse myself.ViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyYes, I find most people do like & find comfort in the church, but I am not a believer, would quite like to be, but it doesn't make sense & is a fairy story. Sorry, I don't want to offend anyone, but that is how I feel.ViewDate:

I would like to make new friends for general conversation onlyHi, I am 75, was widowed 6 months ago. We had been married for 35 years, like most marriages up & down. I don't know if I'm lonely or bewildered, I'm not sure what to do next. I have had a couple of holidays, a cruise which I returned from on Sunday. I live near the sea in Hampshire, very pretty area. I have sons who, live overseas, adult grandchildren Aldo overseas. We spent 30+ years in Southern Africa. I'm not lonely, but am solitary, I belong to U3A, swim, & generally get out & about. I have three dear naughty little dogs.ViewDate:
