Should a gingerbread man become a gingerbread person? Thanks to the stupid lot called politicians the country is in one hell of a muddle at present without some PC idiot wasting time over the sexuality of a cookie or tissue. Where or how is there an offence at something that has always been known as that? Stop faffing around and get on with the important things in life or is it some idiot looking for a job dreaming up stupid things to do?ViewDate:

Calling all Norfolk members ????I have looked back to find that I started this search back in 2015 in an attempt to form some form of social contact amongst Norfolk residents and three years on the answer is what a waste of time! I work as a volunteer for Age UK doing Befriending on the telephone, we cannot do face to face due to lack of funds but this brings a lot of pleasure to many lonely people and not all living on their own. Why is it that attempts to stimulate something similar through Silver Surfers hits a brick wall and falls flat with no response?ViewDate:

Calling all Norfolk members ????I have had several attempts to stimulate social contact of any form on here and elsewhere without any luck, other people have had the same experience. It is the same with holidays you meet someone, go around with them, get on well and exchange details and that's it, you never hear from them! Why? People will admit to being lonely, particularly in the winter so why not exchange a phone call or an email or even meet from time to time. Is everyone frightened of being conned? I work as a volunteer for Age UK, have done for 9 years so have had all the necessary checks carried out to be able to work with possible people and I cannot crack it, answers please.ViewDate:

Calling all Norfolk members ????Could it be that 18 months after posting on here that I was looking for Norfolk members some are coming out into the open? We live in Costessey, I am a Londoner resident here for 50 years, my wife is a Norwich girl, so as Delia once said, "Let's be having you!"ViewDate:

Calling all Norfolk members ????Hello and apologies for not replying earlier. Yes I know Watlington but never gave it a thought, I have a vague recollection of delivering many years ago to a Martin Brundle Volvo dealership there or in that area. Problem with using this forum is that there is no live chat only leaving a message for someone to answer but it's a start if that is what you would like to do or the alternative is to email where you can include several people on the one message, I have lived here in Costessey for the past 45 years, not far from the Showground.ViewDate:

Calling all Norfolk members ????Hello and good to hear from you, I am guessing from the vague description that you could possibly be around the Marham area. My original idea was that it might be interesting to contact people living in the area for friendship/online chats/ emails or whatever as a means of widening friendships and contacts.ViewDate:

Should National Service be reintroduced in the UK?I did not want to do National Service in 1953, I was everything and anything against the system and against everything that didn't suit me, I grew up in the roughest of the roughest in the East End of London. Once in tried to rebel against the discipline and thought I knew best but I learned the hard way that I was not going to win. It was the finest thing ever, I learned so much that haven't got time or space here, it heloed to make me the better person I grew up to be and many many times I bitterly regretted coming out I loved it that much. Yes bring it back!ViewDate:

MOVING HOME ALONE ......AND TO A NEW PART OF THE COUNTRYMy eldest son lives half the year in Italy and the other half in a village near Ayr but sadly neither of our sons could accept or get involved in their Mothers illness and my caring role, they just couldn't handle it and chose to distance themselves so that now I am on my own but they obviously find it hard to come back on board with me.ViewDate:

MOVING HOME ALONE ......AND TO A NEW PART OF THE COUNTRYI hope the two of you do not mind but I have just come across your conversation with interest. I have a similar situation of being alone since I lost my wife two years ago and have found things lonely and difficult but elected to stay put here where I have lived for 45 years. I hope to eventually find a circle of social friends because having been a 24/7 Carer for 24 years all friends, family and social life have long flown away but this is where my roots are, everything around me is familiar plus everybody and anybody around here know me. I have no family anywhere near here and the risk of moving to be near them is the obvious ones that they have their circle and life plus they could very well suddenly decide to move. You are then isolated and have no friends or support around.ViewDate:

Are you feeling happier as you get older?Sorted out finances long before retiring, come and go when I like, no worries, no problems, have been very lucky in that I'm as was made with nothing added or taken away and it all still works, love where I live, only wish I had someone to share it all with apart from dog.ViewDate:

GreetingsAlways difficult to post anything on these sites, most seem to have very little activity and you wonder whether or not you are wasting your time, will anyone read what I've written, will anyone reply? A lot of people are lonely and wish to have contact verbally or by email but somehow that British preserve prevails, retain the stiff upper lip and your comments more often than not remain unanswered. Not daunted, good morning to anyone who might be reading this, particularly to Suffolknan as you are not too far away from me. I live about 5 miles out of Norwich, near the Showground in Norfolk. Dog and I live backing on to woods so after opening the gate at the bottom of our garden we can enjoy about an hours wander with very many good sniffing stops, for him that is. Just a brief few words in the hopes that someone somewhere will be sufficiently interested and luck might favour me with a few replies, it's good to talk.ViewDate:

Can women still be gorgeous and sexy at over 50 years old?Absolute no brainer, of course they are. They are mature, sensible, experienced, nothing to prove, don't need lots of make up plastered on, don't have to work at turning heads, can hold a conversation, there ain't much they cannot offer. Wish I had one!ViewDate:

Do you have insurance for your pet?Always have male black labradors that are KC registered but over their lifetime insurance is ridiculously expensive, I have always believed that to keep an animal it is my duty to provide for him in all ways otherwise I should not have one. I have found it cheaper this way but my last dog sadly cost me dearly when it came to trying to save his life but in return for their undying affection I would pay anything for their wellbeing. My privilege and pleasure.ViewDate:

Do you think the Sainsbury's advert is moving or cynical?Fantastic marketing I think plays on the right spirit at the right time and what it can achieve despite being on opposite sides with different views, it is about what grown men can and should achieve!
