Regor's bio
Recently retired at 74 and finding it hard to adjust after owning my own retail business for the last 40 years.Mountains of jobs to do around the house and gardens but all of a sudden the motivation seems to have disappeared..Reading loads of books….gone fishing…twice…shopping for clothes I don’t need…All pretty boring stuff I know as i a.m used to interaction with the public.
Considering a cruise but now find travel/medical insurance difficult to buy at the astronomical premiums.
Although married I am pretty much living a solo life as we have little in common these days.I always believed that your partner should be your best friend so male mates were never a priority for me. Now we have separate holidays and rarely go out these days.
Three sons..one in The U.S,A and two living way south of us so I rarely see them.
I,m a pretty sociable type and I really enjoy intelligent conversations with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Maybe I should find some pen pals…any suggestions ?

Travel InsuranceBe careful with Staysure. They took all my details and pre existing medical and said I would be covered for world wide travel. They quoted me a very attractive price after accepting the medical conditions and i duly paid for the policy. When I received the paperwork I was horrified that all my conditions were excluded from cover ! They said I could cancel but would have to pay an additional fee. Despite complaining and asking them to check their agents recorded acceptance they refused to budge. My advice … take out a plus pack insurance through Barclays. After recent “ upgrade “ price variations it only works out at less than £ 600 per year for multiple worldwide travel and health cover and includes cover for cruises plus six free admissions to airport lounges plus R.A.C. Cover.ViewDate:

New here so just wanting to say hello to all.Hello and welcome to this great site. My condolences on you losses. I,m located close to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales but originally hail from Britains second largest city in the Midlands. Birmingham which makes me a “Brummie “ I have family in the U.S.A. as my youngest son married a California girl and he became a U..S citizen. He now serves as an army officer down in Tennessee and has fully adapted to The American way of life. I am now retired at 76 and trying to find new friends and interests after over 60 years in the retail food industry. Please drop me a line anytime as I would welcome your response.ViewDate:

Was leaving the EU a mistake?I believe the leave vote was totally managed by data provided by the likes of Cambridge Analytica and targeted at the least educated socio economic groups. I suspect that by now they realise the total rubbish spouted by the likes of Johnson and Farage. We are outcasts in Europe and I doubt there has been a single benefit to Brexit. Our politicians are a disgrace to this once proud nation. They couldn,t run a fish and chip shop.ViewDate:

New and looking for a pen pal/friendshipHello rdt4 Hope you are through the Covid emergency and now able to mix outdoors. It was pretty bad here at times and I wonder whether our government had any idea how to control things. It all seemed so chaotic with all the rules and regulations.. anyway, we seem to be on the other side of it now as the inoculation programs has been pretty effective. Being on your own must be miserable without much of a social life. I too am in a similar situation but won,t bore you with the details. Suffice to say that I recently retired from running my own company and am trying to keep busy with house repairs etc. I,m married but we have lived virtually separate lives for many years now. I have two sons and a stepson. My youngest married a California girl and moved out there about eight years ago after leaving the army. He is now an American citizen and enjoys life to the full. I will be travelling out the in August to visit and to hopefully welcome my first grandchild.so looking forward to it. That’s about all for now. Keep your chin up as we say and drop me a line if you likeViewDate:
