What is the greatest challenge to good mental health in later life?
This week was World Mental Health Day – a global initiative to help raise awareness of mental health around the world.
Every year we’re coming to better understanding of how to understand mental health and identify when we need help, but good mental health in the elderly still has a long way to go.
It’s often taken as a given that mental health problems are a normal aspect of ageing, but this isn’t the case. Significant numbers of people do develop depression and dementia in old age, however this isn’t an inevitable part of ageing – with better awareness and treatment people can enjoy good mental health at every stage in life.
Today we’re asking you – what is the greatest challenge to good mental health in later life? Vote in our poll and then share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below.
