The Steps To Reach Fulfilment

The UK national papers are all reporting that so many black cats are left in shelters because of their colour.

Having read the sad article about black cats being overlooked in all of the shelters, I decided to shout out in their favour….. We need to sing the virtues of our melanistic babies (I have three )

The Steps To Reach Fulfilment

I want to sing the virtues
of having a black cat.
So elegant and glossy,
never tedious nor matt.

They’ll never clash with décor
or lose their sense of style.
They’ll compliment all your colours
with an allure that will beguile.

When holding any black cat
you’ll always look most chic.
With an element of wonder,
and hint of pure mystique.

Just think of them as slimming,
as black gives that effect.
An optical illusion,
such a bonus I suspect.

You’ll never need a clothes brush,
if dressing in black tie.
Just think of all the tantrums,
of many years gone bye.

They never look too grubby,
and their feet are always clean.
Despite the many mud baths
they always look pristine.

In snow you’ll never lose them,
such a monochrome delight.
They never fade in sunlight,
Just always looking so bright.

Black cats are very lucky,
as you would clearly see.
They’ll give you much enjoyment,
and you will soon agree.
