Shivers up my spine
This sentimental poem is written by Martin Silvester for all those who are dreamers, just like him!
SHIVERS UP MY SPINE
Each night I close my eyes and dream,
Of how I’d like things to be.
I’d dream of love and being loved,
With someone dreaming next to me.
I dream of holidays, across the sea,
Of palm trees and white sand.
Of strolling at the waters edge,
Two lovers, hand in hand.
I dream of a table, set for two,
With a soft glowing candle flame.
Our hands reach out and gently touch,
Knowing we both feel the same.
The warm darkness of a tropical night,
With a million stars above.
A moonlit pathway on the sea,
Such a perfect place for love
We don’t really have to say a lot,
Our hearts shine through our eyes.
Palm fronds rustle overhead,
As a warm breeze softly sigh’s.
A perfect evening has to end,
It’s tomorrow on the clock.
Wander back along the sleeping sand,
Through nights soft velvet frock.
A cup of coffee, a glass of wine,
A strawberry dipped in cream.
Soft pillows on the king sized bed,
Ready for another dream.
I feel your fingers in my hair,
Your lips gently kissing mine
I hold you close, in warm embrace,
I feel shivers up my spine.
Then I awake, I look around,
It seems I’m home again.
The frost of deep midwinter,
Has drawn pictures on the pane.
A gentle snore informs me,
That my love is still asleep.
So I open up my bedside drawer,
And have a cautious peep.
I bought two tickets yesterday,
Yes…they’re safely in their folder.
Two tickets for us to live our dream,
To remember, when we’re older.
Life’s too short for wishes,
That just do not come true.
So I gently shake her shoulder,
Whispering…I’ve got a surprise for you.
