If you weren’t here
This poem was written by Martin Silvester, for anyone that gets a bit worried or panicky at times. When actually…there was nothing to get worried or panicky about in the first place.
If you weren’t here
If you weren’t here…what would I do ?
The days would seem so long.
If you weren’t here…my heart would break,
Without our loves sweet song.
If you weren’t here…to hold my hand,
To tell me not to worry.
If you weren’t here…to slow me down,
Each time I want to hurry.
If you weren’t here…to pick me up,
When I’m feeling sad or low.
If you weren’t here…how would I know,
Which way I ought to go.
But you ARE here…and I’m content,
I must thank my lucky stars.
If you weren’t here…I guess I’d feel,
Like the only man on Mars.
If at times we disagree,
About who is wrong or right.
I’m glad we seem to sort it out,
Before turning off the light.
I’ll carry on and do my best,
And try not to let you down.
Because I know..and this is true,
I’m the luckiest man in town.
But loving someone, as I do,
Means there is a price to pay.
The cotton wool you wrap them in,
Holds them tight..with no free play.
So I must loosen up a bit,
Not dwell on…If you weren’t here.
And trust the love that brings you back,
On the days…when you’re not here.
