D-Day 6th June 1944
This poignant poem was written by Tracey Curtis in memory of the brave men who lost their lives, 70 years on …
D-Day 6th June 6th 1944
Today I write this poem
For the soldiers of the war
For the men that fought in Normandy
in June of forty four
For all the men that suffered
For all the soldiers brave
We salute you all as Heroes
For everything you gave
It was all so very sad that day
Some men died in the water
Some men got shot inside there boats
As it turned into a slaughter
On the beaches out in France
Is where our soldiers died
For all the soldiers on that day
We fly our flags with pride
D-DAY goes down in history
And will never be forgot
For all the men that lived and died
For all the men they shot
So I put my hand upon my heart
And believe me when I say
I Honour you fine gentlemen
On this memorial day
