My Garden in springtime

This poem is written by Josephine Oriel Vitols and beautifully depicts her garden in springtime …

My Garden in springtime

My garden is a picture
lt is a sight to behold
With gorgeous blue forget-me-nots
And orange marigolds.
The crocus and daffodils have been and gone
Now tulips take their place
With wallflowers and bluebells
They give the garden grace.

The squirrels are scampering about
For nuts to eat and hide
Then the prickly hedgehog
Decides to come outside.
The birds are nesting in the hedge
Then hopping around in glee
Looking for worms in the garden
To feed their family.

Violets grow beside the wall
And yellow celandine too
With primroses and pansies
They create a splendid hue
The trees are full of blossom
Apple plum and pear
And the pink blossom of the cherry
Keep falling everywhere.

Butterflies are all aflutter
The bees buzzing in their flight
To pollinate the fruit trees
To suit our every bite
I heard a cuckoo calling
Which shows that spring is here to stay
So it is time to take my coat off
For the sunny days of May.

Lilac trees are flowering
With shades of mauve and white
One can’t help but admire them
As they make a lovely sight.
The grass it now needs cutting
But can wait another day
For as the sun is shining
l must find time to play

Joby

I have a very busy life as I am now on my own. My husband passed away seven years ago. I am a grandma and great grandma! My hobbies include Gardening and I like art and play the organ in a fashion and like to write poems. I am also getting to grips with the computer which can be quite time consuming when one doesn't really know what they are doing. However I like writing emails and also like to write into the newspapers about various things that crop up that interest or bother me. The best thing I have done in recent years is to take up bowling. I really enjoy this and it has opened up a new world to me as it gets me out and about meeting new people, and going places that otherwise I wouldn't have gone to. It also give me some ME time as I have spent a great deal of my time looking after others througout my life. My working life ...in brief.. twenty five years working in an office and twenty two years working as a carer for the council on the district.
