I WANT TO BE

A born again biker
Squeezed in jeans and studded black leather 
A cool chick astride a Harley Davidson
Powerful but with the touch of an angel’s feather
I WANT TO BE 
A born again hippie
Wear lots of pretty flowers in my hair
A tie dye shirt that says ‘make love not war’
Promoting peace, equality and care
I WANT TO BE
A born again rock star
Strut my stuff across the international stage
Sing the songs about rights and freedom
True meanings that will last for an age
I WANT TO BE 
A born again dancer
Dance with compassion for our human race
Not let anyone or anything deter me
Kindness accompanied by strength and grace
I WANT TO BE
A born again politician
A leader to help and find a social cure
Ensure the vulnerable are protected
My soul remaining uncorrupted and pure.
But most of all I WANT TO BE
A born again ME
With an encompassing world-wide view
Treat everyone with respect and understanding
Do what I can for the many not just the few.
I need the energy and passion of a thousand people
United in their campaign for others
Joining hands across the globe
Recognise everyone as our sisters and brothers
March to the music of opportunity and hope
Sharing everything we have on earth
We are all entitled to be treated with fairness
From the moment of our birth 
Everyone of us can make the difference
It only takes a small group to start
Walk together in time with the rhythm 
Of our universal and loving heart.

I am now (reluctantly) reitred from my work as a teacher/lecturer which has been a very long and happy career that focused on education, child development, dance, drama and teacher training. I was also a health and fitness tutor and contemporary dance teacher in my spare time! I love tai chi, photography, music, dance, theatre, reading, walking, mindfulness/meditation, social media and learning something new every day. I write poetry to raise money for good causes. I am passionate about campaigning for social justice and saving our NHS here in the UK. I also love my partner, my family and my friends and like to spend as much time with them as possible.
