Damn You Little Pancake!
This is a very witty poem about pancakes written by Tracey Curtis …
DAMN YOU LITTLE PANCAKE
Here we go its pancake day
I need to make up six,
I put it in a jug to start
Then stir the gooey mix.
I get my little frying pan
Pour in a drop of oil,
Put it on the hob to heat
Until it starts to boil
I’m ready now to start the first
I pour out a little batter,
It rolls around the frying pan
And then it starts to splatter.
It’s looking good, I have to say
I have a real good feeling,
I toss it up, a bit to high
It ends up on the ceiling.
Damn you little pancake
And look at all this mess,
It’s now stuck on the ceiling
And I’m now a pancake less.
I’ll try again, with number two
I need to make some more,
I toss it up, my foot it slips
And it flies right out the door.
Damn you little pancake
My hubby comes to see
“Are the pancakes ready yet?
“I’m cooking number three”
This job should be so simple
It’s getting past a joke,
My next one ends up burning
And the room fills up with smoke.
Damn you little pancake
Now this is number four,
It don’t go well, I have to say
And it ends up on the floor!
Damn you little pancake
Now I’m getting stressy,
It’s pancake five, and still no food
And my kitchen is awful messy
Number five so here we go
It’s starting to look yummy,
I toss it high, the dog gets up
And now its in his tummy!
Damn you little pancake
So disheartened I am feeling,
But just as I start up again
One falls off the ceiling
I carry on, with number six
That one is looking great,
I toss it up, then get it out
And put it on the plate
I hand it to my hubby,
“It’s nice I think you’ll find”
He looks at me, & then he said
No thanks, I’ve changed my mind
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
