Million pound personalised plate ….
The back of most of the national newspapers has always been filled with adverts selling personalised number plate’s but none has ever been placed on the market for £1 million.
Well not until now! X1 is rumored to be the most expensive personalised number plate EVER sold with an estimated price tag of £1 million. It was originally issued by Northumberland County Council way back in 1903 when there are hardly any cars on British Roads.
X1 will fetch £560,000 more than a businessman, Afzal Kahn, paid for his ‘F1’ plate, which he bought back in 2008 for £440,625 – (£375,000 plus VAT). Before F1, the most expensive number plate was M1, which was sold for £331,000 in 2006.
In 2010 the BBC reported, that Kahn had been offered £5 million, which was graciously turned down! The F1 plate has a varied history and is origionaly believed to have been owned by a chairman who worked tirelessly for the abolition of the red flag legislation in 1896 when cars had to have a person walking in front of them with a flag.
X1 is being sold by www.Regtransfers.co.uk, which think it will be in high demand and should sell very quickly.
