Summer is on its way!
With the warmer weather this month you can begin to get your garden into shape by mowing the lawn and beginning to sow and plant bedding ready for the summer.
Jobs this month include:
- Be aware of late frosts, and protect vulnerable tender plants
- Make sure potatoes are earthed up and that any remaining are planted promptly
- Summer bedding is best planted out towards the end of this month (except in cold areas)
- Investigate & recycle rainwater for irrigation
- Be sure to hoe off weeds regularly
Uncover Young Plants
This month is a busy time for gardeners, it’s time to unearth those vegetables that were sown under cover such as tomatoes, courgettes & pumpkins and plant them out in the open. It’s also time to prepare alternative young plants ready for planting once acclimatised to the outside.
