Clever uses for toothpaste
Toothpaste doesn’t only clean teeth – there’s dozens of other clever ways you can make use of it around the home.
Here’s some of our favourite clever uses for toothpaste. Do you have any to add?
Remove scuffs from leather
Toothpaste can remove scuffs from leather shoes. Place a small amount over the scuffed area and rub with a soft, clean cloth. Wipe away with a damp cloth to leave your leather looking like new.
Whiten rubber trainers
Sneakers can also get a bit of a facelift with the help of toothpaste. Rub non-gel toothpaste into your sneakers and scrub with an old toothbrush. Remove any excess with a damp cloth – the rubber will be noticeably whiter.
Clean the iron
If you have residue build-up on your iron, apply toothpaste to a cool iron, then scrub with a rag. Remove excess toothpaste and rinse clean.
Remove smells from plastic
Baby bottles in particular can start to smell of sour-milk over time. Remove smells from plastic bottles like this and Tupperware too with toothpaste. Put some in the bottle when you’re washing and scrub away, rinse thoroughly and leave to dry.
Prevent mirrors and goggles fogging
You can prevent things fogging up with the help of toothpaste. Coat the mirror or your goggles with toothpaste and wipe away to prevent condensation from clinging.
Remove crayon from walls
If you have visiting grandchildren who are budding artists, you might find crayon on the wall after a visit one day. It’s easy enough to remove using toothpaste and a scrub brush. Rinse with water and you’re done.
Heal spots
Toothpaste can act as a spot remover. Simply dab over blemishes before bed and leave overnight. Wash your face in the morning – you should see an improvement.
