Clever uses for shaving foam
A simple can of shaving foam is useful for a lot more than just shaving – there are dozens of ways you can put it to use around the home.
Here are a few of our favourite clever uses for shaving foam…
Remove carpet stains
You can remove stains on the carpet with this simple trick. Cover the area with shaving foam and wipe with a damp sponge. Leave it to dry overnight, then vacuum away any remaining shaving foam the next morning.
Keep mirrors from fogging
You can keep your mirrors from fogging up in the bathroom by applying a layer of shaving foam then wiping away. This also works on shower doors, eyeglasses, and the car windshield!
Clean jewellery
If you have delicate jewellery that you’d like to polish but not with any harsh substances, shaving cream can do the trick. Cover the jewellery in shaving foam and work it in before wiping clean to help it look as good as new.
Make finger paint
This is a fun trick for little ones if you have grandchildren visiting. Decant some shaving foam into a small pot and add a few drops of food colouring to give it colour. It can be used in the bath to draw on the wall or outdoors on sliding glass doors. Clean up is a simple as spraying away the shaving foam!
Silence hinges
Creaky hinges on doors and drawers can be made silent again by applying a small amount of shaving foam to the hinges.
Clean hands without water
If you’re camping or working in the garage with no water nearby, shower foam is an easy alternative. Put some into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together as you would with soap. Instead of rinsing away with water, wipe off with a cloth. Your hands will be clean without any sticky residue.
