The Last Passenger by Will Dean
Book Synopsis
A tale not so much of the unexpected, but the impossible. Picture this. You’re on a giant ocean-going liner (much bigger than the Titanic) steaming from Southampton to New York. The voyage has only just begun; you and over a thousand fellow passengers are enjoying their first evening meal on board. Everyone drifts off to bed and the great ship settles for the night. You wake next morning to find everyone – everyone; passengers AND crew – have vanished. It’s just you. And the great ship steams on… utterly engrossing, from the first page to the last.
Weyward by Emilia Hart
Book Synopsis
Three women, five centuries, one spellbinding story
In the present day, Kate flees a traumatic relationship to the Cumbrian cottage she inherited from her great-aunt; but the cottage hides secrets of its own.
In 1942, Violet rebels against her father’s ideas of a ‘proper young lady’ . . . until he takes matters into his own hands.
In 1619, Altha is on trial for witchcraft, implicated in the gruesome death of a local man.
Three women they tried to cage – but Weyward women belong to the wild. And they cannot be tamed…
Over Sharing by Jane Fallon
Book Synopsis
Over Sharing is a hilarious, wickedly sharp revenge comedy. It had me laughing out loud reading it in bed until one in the morning. Meet Iris, once Iris of the happy home and happy marriage. Until divorce ruins her life. Who does she blame? Social influencer Maddy. Maddy preaches happy families, faithfulness, devoted motherhood. Iris thinks she’s an outrageous fake. And proving it will make her very, very happy. A top read from the gifted Jane Fallon.
The Trial by Rob Rinder
Book Synopsis
It is a courtroom sensation: the ruthless killing of a famous cop as he steps into the witness box. Detective Inspector Grant Cliveden has been secretly poisoned barely minutes before being due to give evidence; once the toxin kicks in it takes him less than ten seconds to die.
The nation mourns (absurdly good-looking DI Cliveden once saved the late Queen’s life from assassination; he’s a hero-hearthrob). All the evidence for his murder points to one man, which is why the KC appointed to defend him is deeply reluctant to take on the job; it’s a sure-fire loser.
What’s more, it is his enthusiastic junior’s first-ever case. But nothing is what it seems. If Cliveden’s murder was sensational, just wait until to you get to the trial.
No One Saw A Thing by Andrea Mara
Book Synopsis
A truly chilling opening to this terrific page-turner, especially for any parent reading it. A mother stands on a crowded tube station platform. Her two little girls, Bea and Faye, leap onto a train, but its doors slide shut before she can join them. Trying not to panic, she catches the next one, convinced they’ll have had the presence of mind to get off at the first station and be waiting for her on the platform.
She’s half-right. Because only one is standing there. ‘Bea! Where is Faye?’ ‘Gone,’ Bea says. ‘Faye gone.’ And the nightmare begins.
Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll
Book Synopsis
An absolutely cracking opening to Jessica Knoll’s gripping story. Don’t be deceived by the leisurely pace of the first few pages – it’s like a slowly opening door that will suddenly and without warning be blown off its hinges.
College sorority president Pamela Schumacher is disturbed by strange sounds on campus in the dead of night. She is about to encounter a scene of appalling violence – two of her friends dead, two maimed. Thus begins four decades of mystery surrounding a crime that will captivate public interest – and trust us, yours too.
