The Funny Thing About Norman Foreman – Julietta Henderson
Book Synopsis
One of the most unusual novels we’ve ever recommended for the Silversurfers Book Club.
The Funny Thing About Norman Foreman grabs you by the arm from page one and refuses to let go. It’s a beautifully written, warm-hearted, tragi-comic story about love. The love of a single, undeniably feckless mother for her 12-year-old fatherless son. His love for her, for jokes, and for his friend and putative comedy partner Jax, who quietly dies in the very first chapter.
That’s the thing about this book. One moment it makes you laugh out loud; turn the page and you’re dashing away a tear. Quite an achievement for a debut novelist.
The Push – Ashley Audrain
Book Synopsis
Ever been at the end of your tether with a very naughty child and wondered if it’s your awful parenting – or was the kid just born bad? Blythe Connor knows bad mothers run in her family, so is she imagining her daughter has psychopathic tendencies, or is Violet a “bad seed”? A tense and terrific psychological family drama.
I Have Something To Tell You by Susan Lewis
Book Synopsis

The police don’t, but highflying lawyer Jessica Wells risks her perfect life – good marriage, lovely family, successful career – to defend him. The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

Fight for the land she loves or take her beloved children, Loreda and Ant, west to California in search of a better life. Will it be the land of milk and honey? Or will their experience challenge every ounce of strength they possess?

The Killing Kind by Jane Casey

Ingrid Lewis is a young ambitious barrister facing terrible danger from a man she successfully defended on a stalking charge.
