The top 12 cheapest cars to insure
Looking to cut down on your household expenses? Consider how your car could help – there’s a new generation of cars that are affordable, inexpensive to run and cheaper to insure.
Each year the Group Rating Panel assess vehicles under the Insurance Group Rating system and categorises vehicles into one of 50 groups; the cost of your premium is impacted in part by the number the vehicle you drive is assigned.
The rating is based on factors like cost to repair, cost of spare parts, vehicle performance, safety features and price of a new model.
Generally speaking, cars that are assigned to “group one” are the cheapest to insure. Using this as a factor along with how fuel efficient the car is and how much it costs to purchase new can help you find a new vehicle that comes in right under budget.
