Want to get healthy but struggling to summon the enthusiasm on your own? If you have a smartphone or tablet, then a few excellent apps could be just the thing for helping you get over the hump. There are also some great gadgets for getting you on the right track when it comes to dieting and exercising correctly.
Investigate a few of the best apps and gadgets for boosting your health and wellbeing and see if you could work your way to a fitter, healthier you.
Digital health and fitness aids
On of the most popular new ways to galvanise a sluggish exercise routine is to invest in a Fitbit. This is a neat, rubber wristband that syncs with your computer or phone and keeps track of your activity, allowing you to see how well you’re sticking to your plan. It’s a bit like a traditional pedometer, but it has a lot of added extras that make it well worth your while. As well as the amount of steps you take, it also monitors your calories, the distance you cover, your sleep and the stairs you climb.
Another excellent app to investigate is My Fitness Pal, a free calorie counter that claims to offer access to nutrition information about more than three million different foods. It syncs automatically between your computer and phone, so your food diary will always be up to date. It also has an exercise database that will help you see how many calories you burn during your usual exercise routine. The good thing about this app is how simple they’ve made it to use. This means you can log your meals in a matter of moments and makes it more likely that you’ll stick to your diet.
Another app that focuses on keeping the process simple is Argus. It has a bright, friendly interface and tracks your activity directly through your iPhone. It tracks your steps and you can also log workouts, take a note of how much water you drink and take photos of your food to help inspire you to make healthy choices.
Other great health apps
There are many more excellent apps available and some of these are specialised to suit different tastes or lifestyle choices.
