Resources for family carers
It’s Carers Week in the UK – a nationwide campaign that aims to raise awareness, recognise carers and help provide resources for people in a caring role.
In the UK, 1 in 8 adults are currently providing unpaid care to a friend or loved one – 2 million people each year take on a caring role.
Although it’s incredibly common, most people don’t believe they will take on the role of carer in the future.
In reality, one in five people aged 50 to 64 are carers, and in the last ten years, there has been a 35% increase in carers aged over 65.
Unpaid care is in many ways an invisible support system – the unpaid care provided by the UK’s carers is worth £132 billion a year.
Carers Week is all about recognising carers and raising awareness to help provide better support to people in that role.
