Celebrate No Smoking Day on the 9th of March
If you’re trying to give up smoking, you’re supporting a friend or family member who wants to quit or you’re thinking you’d like to take the first step towards giving up, No Smoking Day is the perfect day.
On the 9th March, the British Heart Foundation is celebrating No Smoking Day and providing support for anyone who wants to say goodbye to smoking.
Online support for saying no to smoking
Head along to the No Smoking Day website and the first thing you’ll see is a question asking you whether you want to quit or you’d like to support someone else. Once you click your answer, you’re taken to a list of resources and advice to suit your situation.
From a countdown to the big day to plenty of motivational stories and information about the health benefits of giving up tobacco, there’s a lot for any smoker to think about. The site also has a useful link to local support services, so you can find the help you need in your area. Many people find that using offered resources – from one-to-one support to nicotine replacement therapy – makes giving up cigarettes a lot more achievable.
How to give and find support
If you’re a non smoker or you’ve already given up and want to help your friends and family do the same, you’ll find plenty of advice on the BHF site as well as the opportunity to sign up for a campaign pack – perfect for spreading the word.
Another great place for sharing success stories and offering help is on the No Smoking Day Facebook page, where you can find out about local events, read the latest news and add your own comments.
There’s never been a better time to quit and with plenty of support and the appropriate therapies, this could be the day you do it for good.
Have you stubbed out the habit? Would you like to?
