Cremation Without Ceremony
The alternative to a traditional funeral
Every person is unique and so every funeral should be too. Cremation Without Ceremony is a new service from Co-op Funeralcare for those who would prefer a simpler choice for their funeral.
It’s different from a traditional funeral, as there’s no funeral service and no one is present at the crematorium. The ashes are returned to the family afterwards or scattered in the garden of remembrance at the crematorium.
It’s a simple, straightforward option which is now being chosen by a growing number of people.
Why do people choose Cremation Without Ceremony?
Cremation Without Ceremony gives people the freedom to be remembered in the way they’d like and in-keeping with how they lived their life. This could be a memorial service at a later date, a family get-together or simply scattering the ashes somewhere they loved.
This type of funeral is growing in popularity and was chosen as the final farewell for musician David Bowie and novelist Anita Brookner, making this alternative option better known.
There are many reasons people might choose a Cremation Without Ceremony.
- It could be that it’s what your loved one wanted. Maybe your loved one has always said they didn’t want a fuss and for everyone just to get together after and have a celebration of their life.
- As families today are more likely to live further apart from each other, arranging a funeral over greater distances could make getting everyone together more challenging.
- You or your loved one might not want a traditional or religious funeral, maybe just getting together to scatter the ashes somewhere personal to that person would be more fitting than attending the cremation itself.
- Maybe it’s a more affordable funeral that you or your loved one wants.
The reasons are uniquely personal to you, but whichever choice you make about the type of funeral you’d like to arrange for your loved one, you will still receive the same caring and compassionate service. Regardless of how you’d like to say farewell, Co-op treat everyone with the same level of professionalism, integrity and care.
