The Duchess of Cambridge’s year in fashion
Kate’s had another good year in the fashion game.
With Meghan Markle in the spotlight following her engagement to Prince Harry, you’d be forgiven for forgetting the Duchess of Cambridge has had a pretty big year too.
Kate and William announced she was pregnant with their third child and for fashion fans, Kate’s outfits didn’t disappoint. We’ve seen her in designer staples like Temperley London and Jenny Packham, as well as some surprises, like a practical Barbour jacket.
We (just about) managed to narrow our favourites of 2017 down to these six ensembles.
Kate embraced the cold-shoulder trend with a black Alexander McQueen gown, complete with pretty white and green flowers and a Bardot neckline. It was the first time the royal couple had attended the BAFTAs and they sure made an impact.
Kate chose one of her designer favourites – Erdem – for an event celebrating the UK-India Year of Culture. The midi length was stunning and can we please talk about those Oscar de la Renta shoes?
We love it when Kate steers away from her plain colour staples and goes for a bold print – and this time it was gingham. Her whole ensemble was by British label Eponine and was actually recycled from an event last year. Who says she’s not frugal?
At a prestigious National Portrait Gallery event Kate wore an emerald lace Temperley gown and really stole the show. She accompanied it with a Wilbur & Gussie clutch bag and Jimmy Choo heels.
Hold the phone – it’s Kate in co-ords. Another Erdem pick, this floral combo was a nod to her usual tailored style, but was a bit more out of the box.
This flamenco-inspired Alexander McQueen dress with a ruffled hem was perfect for a garden party for the Queen’s birthday in Berlin. We think Kate should rock the boho look more often.
