Remembering The Ramones as Johnny’s guitar sells for more than £650,000 at auction

The 1965 Mosrite Ventures II electric guitar was bought by a collector in the US who wished to remain anonymous.

As the guitar played by Johnny Ramone on all 15 Ramones albums and at nearly 2,000 live performances by the band sold at auction for more than £656,000 ($900,000) this week, we remember The Ramones and their place in punk history.

The Ramones were an American band that influenced the rise of punk rock on both sides of the Atlantic. The original members were Joey Ramone (Jeffrey Hyman), Johnny Ramone (John Cummings), Dee Dee Ramone (Douglas Colvin) and Tommy Ramone (Erdelyi Tamas).
