As its name suggests, at Frameless art is free from the confines of a frame. You’re not just looking at the picture, you’re in the picture, with every brush stroke, splash of colour and inspirational moment.
The first thing you notice is the way art surrounds and envelops you. Even the escalator that takes you down into the venue is like travelling through a hand painted kaleidoscope. You’d never expect an experience on this scale (covering 30,000 square feet) would be so neatly nestled into the heart of the capital. And it’s accessible for all ages, whether you know much about art or not.
Unlike the traditional approach to viewing art, at Frameless you’re invited to not just look at art, but to surround yourself at one of four individually curated galleries. You’re encouraged to move amongst the art and lose yourself in the masterpieces and bespoke soundtrack in a way that isn’t possible in traditional art spaces. One minute the work is fantastical, the next classical. One moment it’s beautifully representational, the next spellbindingly abstract. Cutting edge projection technology and dynamic curation work hand in hand to display a distinctive range of artists and genres.
Across all four, you’ll experience no fewer than 43 different interactive digital interpretations of work by 31 of the world’s most iconic artists including Van Gogh, Cézanne, Dalí, Kandinsky, Klimt, Monet and Rembrandt. All in one ticket.
The ‘Beyond Reality’ gallery is focused on particularly surreal, dreamlike or otherworldly artworks. ‘Colour in Motion’ allows you to interact with every brushstroke and splash of paint in impressionist masterpieces. ‘The World Around Us’ drops you into vivid 360-degree city and seascapes that envelop you in the beauty of our world. Finally, ‘The Art of Abstraction’ takes you through a maze of colour, shape and form to discover the pioneers of abstract art.
After exploring the galleries, the Café Bar and Gift Shop do not disappoint. You can make a day of it and settle in the Café Bar for your choice of breakfast bites, light lunches or art-inspired afternoon tea with freshly baked cakes, pastries, and free-flowing tea. You’ll find a wide variety of gifts at the Gift Shop, from some the most interesting local, and international artisans and craftspeople.
