Where to find the best afternoon tea
Afternoon tea is one of Britain’s most treasured institutions – and with good reason. There’s little better to warm the soul more than some tea, cake and sandwiches as the day is winding down, with some pretty tea cups and a scenic backdrop to set the mood.
If you’re looking for an amazing afternoon tea experience, we’ve rounded up some of the best spots for it in the country.
Betty’s, York
For many people, Betty’s is synonymous with York. This classic tea room was founded in 1919, and it is the quintessential spot for afternoon teas and other celebrations in North Yorkshire. Betty’s gets very busy – there’s often a queue out the door – so make sure you reserve a table in advance. Afternoon tea costs £18.75 per person; add a glass of Champagne, and it’s £26.50.
