How Did You Sleep?

How Did You Sleep?

How did you sleep?
I slept like a log
Arms and legs straight
My mind deep in fog

Sometimes I sleep
Curled up in a ball
Like a babe in the womb
With no worries at all

Then there’s the nights
I lay wide awake
Bombarded with thoughts
I just cannot shake

On some occasions
In the depths of my dream
I wake up so startled
And let out a scream

The best of all nights
Vivid dreams feel so real
Precious glimpses of faces
From my past do I steal

There’s nothing quite like
Settling down in my bed
Cocooned in my duvet
I can now rest my head
