Sonnet for Autumn

Sonnet for Autumn

The Autumn sun hangs golden in the sky,
the waves begin to break along the shore,
Migrating birds will soon begin to fly
and darting swallows build their nests no more.

But I am quite content and silent stand,
it is a place of great contentment here,
a moment lost in time where sea meets land and nature,
at its best is always near.

Both young and old have spent their hours there
and even broken hearts have learned to mend.
When nature lets us all, its beauty share,
we realise we have a special friend.

This thing for which we really need to care,
belongs to all of us and is not rare.
