The Mind is Willing
The Mind is Willing!
My mind is totally willing but my body’s not caught on,
well, I think I’m young and supple but it’s looking like I’m wrong.
When I go sit there’s noises, when I stand there’s even more,
It’s even more apparent if I’m getting off the floor.
Then I see those bendy people so flexible and lithe,
they seem especially stretchy, whilst I just squirm and writhe.
Lycra is a no go, it just highlights all my flaws,
to say I look authentic would be clutching at those straws.
Loose-fitting is the answer, relaxed and more concealed,
hiding lumps and bulges, imperfections not revealed.
My workouts are through’ YouTube’ cautious and discreet,
no sitting there in judgement if I cannot reach my feet.
I had a go at yoga, but my ‘lotus’ let me down,
It took two burly fellas to scrape my off the ground!
Then I tried some gentle jogging but landed on my rump,
a mishap with a flagstone, so I went down in a slump.
Help was most forthcoming, but my pride was somewhat shot,
like a beached whale I was stranded, rooted to the spot.
After licking wounds and bruises I limped home in dismay,
I’ll try again tomorrow or sometime another day.
Yet my brain thinks I am twenty, those days of twist and shout,
not reclined upon the sofa not’ letting all hang out’!
My go-go days are numbered to odd days in the year,
not partying ever weekend in all the latest gear.
Perhaps it’s probably safer if I acted a certain age,
yet my mind is screaming loudly to turn another page.
So, I think I’ll give one more bash, well, what can go so wrong?
this old bird is keen and willing before the great ‘swan song’!
