Portrait of a King

Portrait of a King

It isn’t quite the thing to have His Majesty, The King
Painted all in red.
When uniform and background become as one
And all you can see is his head.

The head, mind you, is magnificent,
An excellent representation.
The Monarch butterfly a poignant touch
From Prince to King our Nation

The redness of the rest of it
I couldn’t quite work out.
Did he really, REALLY like it?
Or did he want to scream and shout…..

‘One appears to be swimming in soup.
Good grief, why on earth is there so much red?
Next time there’s a job-lot of paint at B&Q
Walk right on by instead’.
