Lost in Love

Lost in Love

We were lost in the moment encased in the trance,
Of the music that held us as we swayed to the dance,
Lost in love held between us could not tear us apart,
With our arms close entwined ever close to our heart.

As the tune hypnotised us and we danced fair and free,
I felt your heart beating soundly pressing close against me,
Took a kiss on the dancefloor, lost in love, lost in time,
Never old, never ageing, always yours, ever mine.

Looking back to remember and to ever remind,
Just a lad and his true love always look there to find,
Just the truth not pretending no regret here to see,
Pure and simple two young lovers, ever you, ever me.

Close entwined dancing closely bodies sway dancers glide,
Feet are light steps tread even heads are held still in pride,
Moments held here forever calling back, telling me,
Of a love pure and simple given true, – given free.

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
