No wood on me bonfire
No wood on me bonfire
Me rocket went off early, and didn’t fly too far,
I didn’t rise up very high it couldn’t clear the bar,
It seemed to do a stutter then fell back in its place,
It didn’t bring no sort of smile upon my darling’s face.
Me fizzer didn’t fizz at all, it just went ‘phut’ and dropped,
It bent a bit when it started up, but then it ‘phutted’ and flopped,
I pulled it on its blue bit and I twisted at its end,
But there was no way on firework day that he would be my friend.
But I had my Roman candle, and on that I could rely,
To get me in her good books as the night went scurrying by,
But the damp had got inside it and it didn’t do its job,
It wouldn’t chuck its colours out it wouldn’t even lob.
Me sparklers didn’t sparkle, me Catherine wheel got fast,
I thought ‘I’ve made a cock up here my darling’s all aghast`,
Er’s avin er a laff at me I’d better alter quick,
I’d better light a banger, cause there’s no sparkle in me stick.
My final try was just the same, I tried a jumping jack,
The last attempt for glory here to get my macho back,
But it didn’t do it for me, my score was none from naught,
`Cause my age has caught up with me now, – and my fuse is just too short.
( I hate firework night )
