Celebrating 50 years of commercial radio with Michael Aspel
Michael Aspel was a familiar TV face for years – hosting programmes like This Is Your Life, Crackerjack and Antiques Roadshow.
He also hosted the morning show on London’s Capital Radio for around ten years through the ‘70s and ‘80s – dubbed Michael Aspirin by Kenny Everett!
On Sunday 8th October, now aged 90, he’s returning to radio, joining his old colleague Graham Dene on Boom Radio for a special show – as part of a day of programmes to mark the 50th anniversary of commercial radio.
He’s poised to share some of the celebrity stories behind the Big Red Book – and maybe the anecdote about the little lad who watched Ask Aspel and thought Michael’s first name was ‘ask’.
