Luddites of the World Unite

This is a parody of the 1966 hit song ‘Lovers Of The World Unite’ by David and Johnathon (real names Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook). Sing along if you remember how it goes.  Technology is a double-edged sword for many. Me included!

Luddites of the World Unite

Luddites of the world unite,
Rise against the machine – let’s fight!
Give me paper, pen and ink
And I will tell you what I think
‘cos I can remember how to write,
Luddites of the world unite.

Fellow Luddites, hear my song,
If you feel technology’s wrong.
Let’s go back to simpler ways, when
Computers didn’t rule our days.
Put those mobile phones away.
Don’t ignore your children. Watch them play.

Luddites of the world unite
Machines are taking over. Right?
Laptops and predictive text.
Smart phones, Snapchat, then what next?
No-one will ever need to write.
Luddites of the world unite.

Cash is now a thing of the past.
Seems this rule is hard and fast.
We no longer have a voice,
We no longer have a choice.
We will never have the right, unless
‘Luddites’ of the world unite.

Such a pity, such a shame.
The world has changed and who’s to blame?
Just reach out and touch a hand.
Talk to each other. Understand.
Seems that just the old know how,
So listen people, listen now.

Luddites of the world unite,
Rise against the machine – let’s fight!
Give me paper, pen and ink
And I will tell you what I think
‘cos I remember how to write,
Luddites of the world unite.
